Agree.. it's just that with the amount of updates on this project, things tend to get pretty boring waiting, and convos can lean into another topic! :P

This building is going to be amazing to watch as it rises. 5 floors a day is just ridiculously fast! Gentlemen, I believe we have reached the Blade Runner era....

p.s. - If you haven't seen Blade Runner, you need to watch it, it is easily one of the best, most visionary films of all time.

good read, but yeah i am not buying anything until i see it. they should instead do 20 floors a month, which would still be record breaking and that only after laying a sufficient foundation. then i would buy it

Infinite possibilities with Additive concrete

Broad should broaden its horizon and consider 3D manufacturing at a much greater scale

..
Too slow.

The modelling part is interesting (new?) but what about the engineering aspects?

Maybe for architectural considerations?

updates of wikipedia

''Embora os detalhes estruturais não estão disponíveis, os arquitetos de fora têm dúvidas de que um projeto modular teria a rigidez nos pisos inferiores para suportar as cargas de vento impostas por tal altura, sem quantidades inaceitáveis de influência, [11] ou que o prédio poderia ser construído sem força concreto de alta, cuja cura o tempo se opõe a tal uma taxa de construção rápida. ''

sera que é um problema?

Article on the construction site constructionweekonline.com says building will commence at the end of this month and will be finished in March 2013.

Broad sticks to 90-day world's tallest target
by John Bambridge on Nov 19, 2012

Sky City has been designed to house 31,400 people, to be constructed using 200,000 tonnes of steel, and serviced by 104 high-speed lifts.

Broad Sustainable Building (BSB), a subsidiary of the Broad Group based in Changsha in Hunan province, China, insists that it will deliver its 220-storey Sky City within the targeted 90 days, rather than in 210 days as rumoured in the media.

Designed by engineers that worked on the Burj Khalifa, Sky City will achieve the target by assembling BSB’s 95%-prefabricated modular technology at an astonishing construction pace.

Broad Group senior VP Juliet Jiang confirmed that the company’s plan to construct its 838m skyscraper in Changsha “will go on as planned with the completion of five storeys a day.”

BSB, now responsible for 20 modular structures in China, demonstrated the construction method to a wider audience in January, when it constructed a 30-storey hotel in just 15 days.

Foundation work for the Sky City project is expected to go ahead by the end of the month, while the planned three month construction period runs from the end of the year to the end of March 2013.

OMG...that is going to be the most exciting thing ever seen in costruction's human history! I cant wait for it! If this thing will be built as said, and will be safe as well, then China will be proud to have started such a stunning revolution!

I can kind of understand the above the ground parts but how are they going to finish the foundation in two months until the year end? Did they already do some work on the foundation?
