It's China. They'll figure something out.

My word, this project sounds mental if it actually goes ahead. Does anyone know if any live webcam sites will be showing progress?

A lot of 'furniture movers' with various engineer degrees .

Well, if they're able to do a simple mat, the concrete could be poured in a couple days at most and given minimum time to harden to start to support a building rather than achieve full strength (~29 days I thought).

Not sure how they'd complete foundations and piling within even two months however, unless they just go gung-ho and get a substantial number of piling machines all working at once to do the boring hastily.

Again erecting the tower is one thing. Hopefully it's just the fruition of the many months spent beforehand in doing all calculations and loads needed that this'll work out smoothly in the end.

Maybe they have a secret concrete making formula ?

BSB said they ordered the steels (raw?) for this building in a news article back in June (I think) of this year.

I don't envy the person(s) responsible for quality control of the manufacturing processes.

I don't know why people keep reposting this design but this is an old version. This is what (hopefully) will be build.

Btw I'm impressed how bold these broad guys are. Reminding week before the deadline that they really are going to do that? They either are idiots or they really are going to do something here.

I especially love this part of the construtionweek article:

“We have not issued any press statement on this and it will go on as planned...we have not said anything about 210 days,”

Other projects around the world are being delayed this one is shortened for a change

I want it to be built, not because I think it looks nice, but because of the ridiculousness of it all, and I want to see what 2-5 floors a day would be like!

This rendering is pathetic. It's 838 meters, not 1200.

(use google automatic translation) !

This might explain something. it is not under construction yet, but at least it looks like piling has begun (so the local farmers say). If we get some picture confirmation from someone on gaoloumi, we can put this into preparation stage...

This could be the location. The satellite picture is a few years old. So no apparent construction yet. The blue thing in the middle is Daze Hu, where the project should be located. Also next to the river...

Yes, much better .... however that also looks like something that hasn't passed the wind-tunnel test just as yet.

1. Square corners
2. Setbacks at the same level all around

Didn't know you are wind engineer expert

You should be shocked by this one. Square corners and NO setbacks.

As everyone I believe in j220 only when I see it, but I'm not that ignorant to label it definitely impossible without having any qualification or knowing nothing about design details and used technologies.

Broad is about to show us one of the stupidest stunts of all time or truly a revolutionary one. Since so little time left to the deadline lets sit down and wait whats happen instead playing experts who knows everything.

I can show you just as tall in Dubai ............ but none of that matters, cause none of them is 800+ meters tall

But nowhere near as thin And j220 is around 600m+. Only stick goes to the 837m. And even with 600+ it's incomparable to your dubai boxy examples as none of them (with only burj being close) is four wing pyramidal structure.

The design is not too interesting. It should be more curved to overcome windproof. However, the scale is the strong point of the project.
