I applied the newest kind of render in the riverside, next of the downtown, to give an idea of the monumentality:

Yeah, the closest buildings behind have not even 100 meters of height.

(I also tried to put it in the right proportion in the image, using Google measures of lenght at the riverside and the point of view perspective. But some distortion is expected in this fast and poor work).

Keep in mind that Changsha is also building several more skyscrapers in that main downtown area right now (and it has two proposed supertalls as well), but if this building was finished in 2013, i totally agree that it would look like that. and yeah i don't really mind it sticking out.

And it looks like it will be build outside the city, so yeah it will look as crazy, if it ever will be built. And really, even in Hong Kong or SHanghai it would stick out.

Part of the reason why I think it sticks out so much is because not only giant in height, but it's actually MASSIVE in terms of "fatness" or width.

It's like a GIANT blue Willis Tower, as opposed to a Burj Khalifa. That's why for some reason i think it would actually fit in the Chicago Skyline. Kind of complements the rest of the city.

I am just going to wait until this thread is moved, to the stunned amazement of all, from Proposed into Supertalls and just wait until then as speculation just isn't worth it.

How do you mean, it's nothing special? Do you see such a building rise every week in you backyard or so?

I agree that this building seems to never be built long ago in this forum that does not appear anything concrete or related to this important building, looks more like a political move

That rendering is ridiculous. Have some sort of skyline first before building something like this.

Wow, it's God! He knows everything; what is right and what is wrong.

In this instant, the almighty and all knowing being told us that a building should not be erected if it's surroundings are not the same or of similar height of itself.

That rendering is not ridiculous. It is not amazing either. Nor is it indifferent. It is nothing.
BUT. your OPINION on how the rendering is ridiculous is fine. After all it is an opinion. And know that I'm not bashing you because I am in love with this building, in fact, I do steep toward your opinion.

Only I have the decency to state my opinion whilst you, on the other hand, make an arbitrary comment in such pride and assurance that if seems like you are claiming land in honour of the Queen in the 1800's.

The rendering is not ridiculous. It simply is. HOWEVER YOUR OPINION THAT IT IS RIDICULOUS is completely fine. Just don't say it like it's a known fact that governs our universe.

If the skyline of Changsha would look like the render then for me it would become the most beautiful skyline in the world

Um...Why? One building doesn't make a skyline.

Chicago has a skyline. (The best, IMO)
NYC has a skyline.

Shangsha and Jeddah won't have real skylines with just one skyscraper.

I love when buildings are dominating, especially when they are extremely dominating
