btw, the Changsha one is not an exception for being that clean. Chengdu looks very similar to this one.

Was just thinking like, oh, that's standard. But really, wow! Those are as clean as airports and look like mini-ones pretty much. Thanks for sharing that. At least some part of Changsha has a good rail link.

The Chinese surely know how to build proper and modern railway stations. The pictures are very pleasant to the eyes.

It is said on this link, posted 6 days ago, that the project is being approved and will begin its construction in March, finishing the September , it has also listed contact information for the manager in charge. I'm going to drop him an email to see whether this is true.

This city is a big surprise, they're getting tons of 200m+ projects there, up to 20 on going right now including several supertalls. However Changsha isn't the most suitable city for such a huge tower, they better build something like that in Shenzhen or Shanghai. Shenzhen has an 800m project coming anyway, can't wait to see some renders.

This thread should get deleted.
It is not gonna get built. It is just a PR stunt that has gotten undeserved attention.

I hope they don't build it and embarrass China because it would fall apart. They haven't done any engineering or anything, their building techinque might be good for a 30 story building, but nobody will want to enter this building. It is like a house of cards.

threads of projects changed to vision, unbuilt or cancelled are not deleted but closed and moved to archives, you can propose to move it to archives in the "Requests for moving threads" sticky,

yet i personally think it would be too soon for that step. The first approach was denied, but i do not believe this proposal is completely dead. I still think there is a chance this gets pulled off still no matter how small the chance is, it is still there i think.

since it is long term, i do not think it can keep up with Kingdom Tower which is already far into preparations and soon U/C, so it would not make it as the worlds tallest building i think. the article also was very vague about details, so it will take some more time for the project to get into a further stage of progress is my guess.

Omg what a monster of a building... From the design it's so clear they have no time to really build it.

Yeah, the closest buildings behind have not even 100 meters of height.

(I also tried to put it in the right proportion in the image, using Google measures of lenght at the riverside and the point of view perspective. But some distortion is expected in this fast and poor work).
Actually the city scape you used for China is from the late 1990s, there is a lot more building now. (I'm from Changsha) However is there a height restriction in Changsha due the presence of a major military base South of the city. (hosting a quarter of China's Su-30MKK fleet).

This Picture taken around the same time as your background cityscape. (a bit earlier in the mid 90s)

Here is Changcha c.a 2011, notice the effect of height restriction. It looks like a even haircut of building from top left edge to the right edge.

The air force base is planning to move to a more remote area, thus the height restriction will be lifted, hence the massive real estate speculation.
