The whole tower probably won't happen but it is still and incredible vision

I've been hesitant to post on this thread, but I thought they said that construction of the needed factories and first sections of the tower is underway.

Nobody really know what's happening here right now. We just can wait and hope to get some news.

the building U/C they show at 1:11 is not the 15 ( or 30? ) floor one. it's too big and the shape doesn't fit.
maybe they build a smaller version of the 800m one?

I bet it's the same structure we've seen pictures of rising in march. This is the picture posted back then at ssc:

And those are screenshots from the movie. Those are the same elements and the same shape of the building. This video is direct confirmation that this structure was indeed related to the development of sky city hence it also proves they still working on it and they still making progress Wonder what height this new test building will have...

And oh that observation deck is so sick

They are using much bigger and stronger parts right now so it has to be taller than the old towers. It's no longer a child's play I'd say

Did I saw the video right? The open air roof garden at above 600m heigh? (2:31). The thumb rule says no balcony above 6 storey because of wind pressure. Or China has a different climate?

I can't believe they used a stairway to get up to the observation deck. You would think that the winds up that high would create a crazy challenge for people walking up those stairs. Of course they could enclose the stairway but it looked open on the video. We might not move this over to U/C until it's almost completed.

I was surprised at first too, but after second look it seems like there is an external elevator there as well - notice the boxy object with some wires along the staircase. Still all that may be just another concept and the final design may differ a lot (assuming of course they will build that thing).

Wow that's a great revision. Those reinforced flanges seem like they'd be able to handle the loads much better than their old >I< style of column and seem pretty heavy duty.

That + section in the video shows a similar concept to the bundled tubes of Sears Tower, just that the building is probably first riveted together then welded after (I'd hope). Again that still shot from the video and extension of the tower from the testbed looks so much more robust now.

It may be another 3-6 months or more but it seems like they are wanting this built and will find a way to do it!

The new Changsha Planning Exhibition Hall. Looks like they build something REALLY BIG! up to 700 m + which does not seem to be J220 or in the Meixi area.
