They also show another vantage point of that test building further down in the article. It appeared to be 5-6 floors high if you look at the construction scene on pause from their latest video but the photo shows 4 floors built.

Either way it's probably nice to see them doing one giant test building before building the real thing.

And for the first time they mention wind tunnel tests as well:

Quote:
"Over a hundred tests of physical strength & fire resistance were performed, and wind tunnel tests were conducted by three research institutions.
Just pointing this out for "wind experts" on this forums claiming this structure is impossible to withstand wind pressure

As for the time schedule. One month seems a bit too soon and in light of their previous announcements I will believe they are building it when I see it.

That article is awesome! This project is very alive and it seems to be clear they will build it . Though a start in June seems a bit early to me since their other building isn't even finished.
But however, i'm very excited to see it going up soon

If this is feasible then it is certainly a revolution. The only thing it lacks to be perfect is beauty, but this monster is just a prototype after all.

No offense, but I don't think you know what the other building is, where it is, or when it finishes.

It's a hideous building. They should have used some proper proportions in the setbacks (it wouldn't interfere with the engineering) but at least it'll be interesting to watch rise. If it even does.

Impossible to tell for certain but as of now it looks like it is approved. Several sources seems to confirm it. I will try to dig up a chinese source too

http://news.changsha.cn/h/187/20130516/1249862.html here they write that it is awaiting approval from the national authorities so every piece of news should probably be taken with a grain of salt. Guess we will see in june

I think if it really has received approval we would have already heard from Gaoloumi.

Is Gaoloumi China's version of Twitter or Facebook? Just wondering.

Eh, no. It's China's version of skyscrapercity.com... The website literally means "tall building fan".

If you want Twitter, how about looking up Weibo (pronounced "way-boh").
