What a waste. But to have the spire be the observation deck, that alone would make this my favorite supertall, even thought esthetically it is an ugly dog.

And then you throw in Australian cities, which use metro are population as the official city population . Shows how confusing stats can be. If I remember correctly, Shanghai's "city" population is bigger than its metro considerably . Ah, the confusion is invigorating...

And now imagine that Sky City maybe will have a small platform at 838m. You'll probably feel like you're flying with a plane

Actually having 800m a building underneath you and nothing above is much more cool than simply looking out of an airplane's window

Of course. But i just meant the height. At 838m everything on street level is so small already like you would fly in a plane .

838 m is exactly twice the height of the former 2WTC's famous outdoor Top of the World OB deck. Weird...

This technology is yet in this stage:

We don't know yet how it will evolve, but you've already know how the picture above evolved, so everything is possible.
I hope this does turn out to be a success! Imagine, if this thing gets built before the end of this year (or not to far into next year), many companies around the world will take this type of construction more seriously and then, the sky's the limit! The future we see in sci fi films may only be 10 years away from now? Places with booming economy's may be able to afford 10 to 20 1000m towers and have them erected in the next 5 years. The skyline of the future may be closer than we think.

I am referring to the area that is the city.

Chongqing is a good example. The City of CQ is huge, bigger than many countries. The area where it appears to be a city is much smaller. Most Chinese cities have a very large area that is 'the city'.

The renders may have not much more than a steel frame and the spire above 666m. You could get to 666, but not higher.

BK you could, I suppose, get in the service elevator and then climb the tube up to the top with the hatch but from what videos I have seen that tower sways a large amount above the top usable floors.

It may have a hollow spire like ESB that allows going much higher than the main structure.

Correct. Plus the platform looks publicly available. And with Burj Khalifa? Yes you can go to the very top of it... if you are Tom Cruise

Model of building soon to be constructed similar in size to T30- the current record holder of world's tallest building built in the shortest time.

ir

The white building behind the red building with helipad and helicopter looks a lot better than any of their previous buildings. It looks like some luxury residential buildings which are sprouting up in Malaysia.
