In the time lapse of the 30 floor tower, the core can be seen progressing a couple levels above the floors.

I would guess that they will move on to testing and building 60 and then 120 story models next. This is wild speculation on my part though.

I think he means a concrete core.

Does anyone know if this building holds the current record for the fastest construction of a skyscraper at 2 weeks? Also, how long did the ground work and work at the steel mill take to make all the individual parts? Thanks.

yes, a core like seen in the video won't be strong enough to hold a structure that tall. But it may be strong enough for buildings that reach 200m or even 250m and that may be interesting to see in the future.

Imagine, if you live in a city in China with only lowrise, and you go on a vacation for two weeks, and you come back, your whole city is full of 200 m towers. That would be scary.

Wow.... I believe Sears Tower Design will be replace by other design. The real design will not show unless it's confirm to be build.

Ok, I'm quoting this whole message because it's pure awesome.

I guess everyone is gonna have to revise their estimates: Shanghai Tower won't be the tallest when it's completed in 2014; the Kingdom tower will be dwarfed by China's megatalls by the time it's done, etc... :P

Broad will be scaling up to 50 floors next.

China's high-speed building boom

"This is the tallest building in this county, and it's also the fastest-built," said Rong Shengli, one of the building's planners, looking over the rural sprawl from a helicopter pad on the hotel's roof. "Next we're going to build a 50-story building. Then a 100-story one, then a 150-story one. And they're all going to go up fast."

I dont care how safe it is or how many tests they run it through...I wouldn't feel comfortable in a building that was built racing a clock. Good on them for innovating new ways to build but I hope it doesnt reach Seattle. Just makes me uneasy.
