It looks like a more active construction site than the JEDDAH Kingdom Tower construction site. I wonder how much longer before this Sky City thread moves to the Supertalls section like the JKT.

Can't believe this thing is actually being built. The last time I signed on here (a couple of months ago) everyone seemed to agree that this project was going to be a no-go. Are they still planning on construction only taking 3 months?

From what I have read here from some forumer, it seems 7 months for land and foundation works + 3 for assembiling the 838m. tall structure, right? Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

still to debate if the government will actually approve this building. it may end up never rising after all.

get outta here with that bullshit. broad group has successfully built other towers quickly too and there's been no slowdowns thus far since the "prep" started. and as you know, this is China, the land where anything is possible

I don't see a logical reason why the government wouldn't approve this project.

safety concern. after all a project this size was never build before nor with the method provided. but i am hopeful that the government will leave them do there thing, because having the tallest building would be an ego-boost and the chinese government really likes ego-boosts. i could imagine they won't really approve it though, yet neither stop it, so that if something goes horribly wrong they can say it wasn't their fault, yet if everything works out as expected they have the tallest building in a record speed.

There are two reasons why the government doesn't want to approve it. First of all this administration (and the previous one too) try to project an image that its "down to earth," therefore they don't like anything that's high profile, that's why we won't be seeing as much "biggest, tallest, fastest, etc" things coming from China now. Second reason is lobbying from large construction and real estate companies who see this construction method as a threat. Safety reason is just an excuse, they couldn't produce any reasons to suggest the building itself is unsafe, the only thing cited by state media is that they are concerned about the long evacuation time due to its high population concentration.

But China does have the fastest trains and that building in Chengdu that opened up last month is the biggest building in the world
