DADAR | Kohinoor Square | 203m-52fl + 117m-33fl | U/C

Under construction in Dadar on what previously used to be the site of Kohinoor Mills #3, Kohinoor Square will be a major mark on the Mumbai skyline, towering 203m over the city. The project was designed by gkkworks.

gkkworks won a design competition for this mixed-use commercial high rise tower in Mumbai, India. The source of inspiration for this design concept is the meaning of the name Kohinoor: mountain of light. Kohinoor is also the name of the largest diamond in the world. The diamond is the ultimate gemstone. It is the hardest substance found in nature, yet the most transparent, with a long history in India. The tower’s design objectives challenge the typical glass office building by the abstract pattern created by diamond geometry and triangulation. The triangular shapes are layered onto the building’s mass and facades, through clearly defined planes and opposites: void and solid, opacity and transparency. The result is a building design that not only has symbolic meaning but creates a unique and powerful presence worthy of the Kohinoor name.

I have a question - there are some mills adjacent (to the north) of the project site! Are those up for some kind of redevelopment ? They're a major eyesore!

Awesome, I like that were seeing more commercial skyscrapers in the Dadar area, such as this and Ruby Mills. It will help to spread out the CBD to create a sort of Midtown area.

Wonder how many buildings in an area the size of Parel or Dadar does it take to get a Tokyo/Manhattan/Dubai Critical Mass density appearance?
