Actually, I remember some people did call it AMP Tower but yeah, a lot (probably most) still called it Sydney or Centrepoint Tower.

Just because some company gets naming rights doesnt mean you have to use their name.
Docklands Stadium in Melbourne is a good example, It has been Colonial Stadium, Telstra Dome and now its Etihad Stadium or something. Always been Docklands Stadium, the ABC refer to it as such, commercial stations like 7,9 and 10 call it whatever they are told to. Why promote a corporation so willingly? No one should call Sydney Tower, Westfield Tower. It's different if it is just some office building that has never had anything other than a corporate identity. Fine, change the name whenever you want in that instant. Imagine the Sydney Optus House! Or the Snugglers Harbour Bridge? Last edited by MissPenny; July 28th, 2011 at 11:02 AM. |

Sydney Tower has been the most commonly used name for the tower. Centrepoint was used to describe the shopping centre and office tower (100 Market Street).

Say "AMP Tower" to most Sydneysiders and they will assume you are talking about the "AMP Centre", the 1976 skyscraper near Circular Quay with "AMP" on top.

Yes, I often I have to mention "Centrepoint Tower" to give people an idea that I am talking about "Sydney Tower".

I am not that impressed with the shopfront of Prada. I was hoping to see more windows on the second level instead of a wall.

There is a Nespresso store over two levels at the Pitt Street Mall end of Westfield. It is, in my opinion, the most efficiently run store in Sydney. The staff know their product and actually want to sell it to you.
Many of their neighbours (David Jones comes to mind) are complaining of a downturn in spending; if their staff were as motivated and efficient their sales figures might improve. |

I think that is where face-to-face retail is going to be heading. High service specialty retail. The rest will die off in the face of internet shopping.

Retailers have to step up with customer or otherwise they cannot compete.
