Still don't understand the need for so many new stadiums in Stockholm. Sure its cool for your team to have their own ground but imagine how much better the clubs economies would be if they joined up and built one amazing stadium. It would also minimize vandalism since no fan wants to destroy their own stuff. I understand really big clubs having their own stadiums because they easily can fill them and use it for other things. In Stockholm I bet it gives more money to rent it out for concerts and similar things. My bet is that they will be decently filled the first years and then afterwards they will be empty like hell. Two big football stadiums are all that is needed in Stockholm and that is to minimize the need for traffic jams in the playing schedule.

Hmm... When Stockholmsarenan is finished we will have one medium sized stadium. Today we have none.

So many new stadiums? Stockholmsarenan is being built and will probably house Djurgården as well as Hammarby.

Sharing stadiums would not reduce vandalism, quite the opposite in fact. Just the fact that nobody want's to share stadium with their rivals makes this even more true. The clubs biggest assets are their unique identities, something we really don't want to dillute.

My bet is that they will be half-empty for the first few years, because the prices will probably be too high and just the modern feel will make a lot of the atmosphere dissapear.

Of course, the best thing would be if the clubs had the economies to build their own stadiums... but they really don't. My vision is that Djurgården somehow manages to build a stadium in their territory, Hammarby somehow manages to buy Stockholmsarenan or build a new one (perhaps rebuilding Zinkensdamm or Kanalplan, maybe in Tantolunden). For AIK, well ffs - defend Råsunda.

There are three main club teams in Stockholm, plus the national team. Two will be in this one, and two will play in the other (Swedbank). Surely, you don't want four teams to share the same stadium?

Well the number of arenas isn't increasing since you must remember that they will replace the two old ones which will be demolished.

This is correct, the number of stadiums in Stockholm is actually decreasing. If you want teams to cohabitate stadiums, you should be happy about these two stadiums getting built. Råsunda, Söderstadion, and the Olympic Stadium will be replaced by Stockholmsarenan and Swedbank Arena.

Two arenas are deffinately needed to these three clubs but will it help these clubs economies? AEG will wants to make a lot of money on both Djurgården and Hammarby so will it actually benefit these two clubs?

AIK I think has a little different position since SVFF wants to have a use for the arena outside of the national events and other things but who really knows?

Are there any calculations of how these clubs will fair with using these new stadiums?

AEG owns Staples Center, which houses two teams (Lakers and Clippers), and both clubs seem to be doing just fine.

Yeah, but one thing is to have 2 teams and another to have 3 teams.
At least 1/2 weekends will see 2 teams needing to play on the same Arena.
Of course, there are no restrictions on a National level, one can play Saturday and the other one Sunday. In Europe, Inter had to wait a week to play it's European games if they had the home leg the same week as Milan ( now it should be the other way around because Inter has a better coefficient ).

Neither stadium will have 3 teams. Each stadium in Stockholm will have 2.

And Stockholm also builds for the future. Stockholm is growing a lot each year.

And Sweden can afford it. We're not poor like Greece.

Why don't you suggest also the London football fans to share Wembley or new Olympic stadium instead of using their own grounds?
Or the big 3 from Turkey to share Olympic Ataturk? Everybody needs a home and sharing stadiums it is not so popular in the profesional football. It is also a problem of location, especially in the big cities. I remember how Fulham fans were not so happy during the relocation to QPR- Loftus Road, only 2 miles away.

In case of Stockholm the relocation of AIK it looks ok, only a mile away from Rasunda. Also Hammarby remains on the same spot in Johanneshov, probably a half a mile from the old Soderstadium. What about DIF? They have to relocate from the North-East from Ostermalm to the south on Hammarby territory.. They could lose a lot of support from the fans. I red that in past it was another relocation of Djurgarden to the western district Traneberg. But they came back home in Ostermalm. Hope it will be the same.

Regarding Olympic stadium I can't believe that it will be turned down. At least for he unique architecture and the historical significance must be preserved. Like Amsterdam Olympic stadium. Also Rasunda was a great stadium.

Just to make things clear: Stockholm Olympic Stadium will NOT be torn down. It's UEFA directives that forces Djurgården move to Stockholmsarenan after 2014. Stockholm Olympic Stadium will stand empty all year long because of SvFF and UEFA.

Now:
Stockholm Olympic Stadium - Djurgårdens IF
Söderstadion - Hammarby IF
Råsunda Stadium - AIK & SvFF

2014:
Stockholm Olympic Stadium - Empty/Athletics
Stockholmsarenan - Djurgårdens IF & Hammarby IF
Swedbank Arena - AIK & SvFF

No I wrote two will be demolished and not three. And they are as 1708 said Söderstadion and Råsunda. Stockholm Olympic Stadium won't be demolished.

Clearly a concern. However, there is a connection to the location for Djurgården. The Djurgården ice hockey team have played there since the 1950's and the team has an average attendence of 7500 in johanneshovs isstadion (capacity 8 000). There is also a lot of Djurgården supporters living in the southern parts of stockholm.
