North America - White House, easily.
South America - I have no clue whatsoever.
Europe - Louvre Museum, Big Ben, Reichstag (only due to its glass dome, imo), Kremlin
Africa - Cape Town Stadium & Soccer City. Giza Pyramids aren't buildings. Imo Africa doesn't have much other than landmarks/tourist hotspots that make people automatically think of it in a good way...yet.
Asia - Taj Mahal, Tianamen Gate (it's a building, am I right?)
Oceania (whatever you want to call it) - Sydney Opera House easily

Giza pyramids actually have interior space. but Egypt and Africa as a whole have many more things that are iconic, the first colonnade buildings were built in Egypt.

So its not that Africa doesnt have any iconic buildings, but rather people in this world are completely ignorant of whats out there.

seriously soccer stadiums more iconic than this??? infact i dont see how any of the buildings listed already here can be more iconic than this.

There's more to being 'iconic' than age/history.

I personally didn't know what it is you posted, so I tried finding its name and even after finding it, I still had no idea what it was all about (other than it was/is a temple). To me, that isn't iconic. Iconic should be something that first pops into your mind when thinking about that country/continent etc.

But in South America we consider there's just one America as continental europeans do. The "Americas" is an anglosaxon concept.

If this Temple were to have been built in Europe rather than in Africa, I am sure that we wouldnt hear the end of it.

I know the name and I know that it's a structure in Istanbul but I have no idea what it looks like.

I am aware of that, I am not oblivious to the wonders that are in Africa. Giza pyramids may be considered a building depending on one's definition of a building.

I never said it was more iconic . I just said it was the most obvious of buildings in Africa other than the Giza Pyramids (which may or not be considered buildings) to people outside of Africa. I could have said Lamu is home to some of Africa's most iconic buildings. I could have said Benin City has some of Africa's most iconic buildings (even though I know little about it other than the walls of benin), Great Zimbabwe, or labeled Fasil Ghebbi in Ethiopia as most iconic , etc. etc. Why did I not say that then? At the moment I wasn't thinking about them, and I doubt many people know of them anyways.

Do you think that I know of many iconic buildings in Europe or Asia that aren't modern-day skyscrapers or huge tourist attractions? Nope. That is why I said other than tourist hotspots in Africa there aren't many buildings, etc. that people know of. It's not that they aren't there.

I can't believe people are calling The White house North America's most iconic building. It's just a house. The Capitol is much more iconic. Period.

Africa - Pyramids of Giza or Abu Simbel
Asia - Taj Mahal/Forbidden Palace (Petra is really iconic but though people would recognise it, they often wouldnt know where from)
Australia - Sydney Opera House
Europe - Tour Eiffel, Big Ben/Palace of Westminster
N. America - White House or Statue of Liberty (I find that a lot of people dont recognise the capitol building outside the US at all, they often think its a church like St Peters basilica or St Paul's cathedral)
S. America - Macchu Picchu (if that doesnt count perhaps Brasilia as an entirety?)

For me it's always both pain and amusement scrolling through such threads.

nice example:

Little self centric, don't you think? Most Europeans have not heard of half your list. And most Europeans wouldn't even consider Turkey european.
