They could always bring back the old LA Express name.

If you want to name it after something in LA, how about Los Angeles Locos? Shortens nicely to Los Locos. Playing at La Milpa (which is ultimately a Native American word).
I guarantee they would get a huge fan following. Let's party como Los Locos. |

I feels the same way. The return of the Los Angeles Rams will be a dream come true. Even better than the 1979-94 version because, 1, they won't be owned by Georgia, and, 2, they will be back in the city of Los Angeles where they never should have left.

The 49ers announced bank funding for Santa Clara Stadium, which just about seals the deal that they will start construction next year. I would also guess that it makes the Raiders look more eagerly at sharing, because they can quantify their costs with some accuracy, and, of course, the Niners are not looking to dictate ownership changes.
I think the Raiders have to move down on the LA list. |

So it's either a toss up with the Chargers and Rams seemingly the most likely to move.

Chargers need major renovations to the Q at the very least. I can understand them contending that they might need a new stadium situation. Also, them heading to LA doesn't rip a franchise away from their original fan base. A 1-1/2hr is easily within a reasonable travel distance for an NFL fan. Best case scenario for this situation.

There is no way in Hades that you can get from Qualcomm to downtown LA in an hour and a half. You could do it in two hours, at three in the morning. More likely three hours plus on a game day.

2.5 hours is the "average" drive time without any major traffic snafu's. |

Its 1.5 hrs from the OC (where I was staying last time I was in LA) to SD. That was also over the Thanksgiving Holiday. Fair enough? Point still remains, for a 1pm game, that means you have to leave at saaay 9am to get to the game and 'tailgate'? Still a lot easier/cheaper than hopping a flight from STL to LAX.

LA to SD is generally regarded as a 2-2.5 hour drive in ideal conditions. No need to get defensive. Just setting the record straight for those not familiar with the commute. Besides, I was one of those making the same point--that SD Chargers fans would still have a manageable commute to see them play in LA. Of course, if they do move, and adopt a new name and identity, they'll probably lose those fans. That's why I think if they do move to LA they'll keep the Chargers name to try and keep as many SD fans as possible. |

Not really. ive done the Downtown to downtown drive in less than 2 hours plenty of times. Actually, the easiest way would be amtrack. 2.5 hours from downtown to Farmers field.

I would guess the bulk of those coming to Industry or downtown would be coming from the 1M or so north county residents who have 30 minutes less travel time than from DT SD. Carlsbad to Industry or DT LA is under an hour and a half (not counting local game day traffic, which is a problem just about everywhere). But I would assume that local LA people can more than fill the demand for seats without worrying about SD fans.

Are you Ms. Daisy? I've made the San Diego to LA drive in about 90 minutes. I remember during Carmegeddon, I went from Riverside to LA (about a 50 mile drive) in 40 minutes.

But more on subject: the Niners now have funding and will build in Santa Clara. They don't need the Raiders to help get funding, so their terms may get a little tougher. This makes the Raiders a bit more interested in moving to LA. There seem to be hints that AEG isn't excited about bringing the Raiders DT. They seem to be a better fit for the IE and the LA blue collar "heartland" rather than DT or the westside (Dodgers, Lakers). If SD also thinks that they can get more fans to Industry doesn't this give Roski a bit of new life? Especially since he seems more flexible than AEG on ownership and his offer to have the teams fund the stadium looks do-able after the Niners get 850M in credit. btw, none of the proposed LA teams is doing much this year (SD, Jags, Vikes, Rams are struggling and Raiders are marginal). |

The jags game last night was bad. The stadium looked haft empty at kickoff and finished near to dead at the end. This might because the jags were bad.
