According to Google Maps, there's a pair parking lots right across the street from the LACC and the Staples Center.

Surely, people could use those areas for tailgating if they want.

Those are eventually going to be developed into a project called LA Central, but who knows when.

It's still on hold? I'd think it would be cancelled by now.

LA Central

It's on hold and has been for a few years but I'm sure if not this then something else will rise on that site (and the others surrounding the whole LA Live area). Farmers Field is going to cause quite a bit of change in DTLA as there is quite a lot of room.

I dunno; not everyone tailgates and it would be awesome if non-tailgaters came by train and leaving the cars to the tailgaters, right?

Not directly related to Farmers Field but this goes to show you how development can happen due to developments.

Quote:
We know that LA Live developer AEG wants to build an NFL stadium in South Park, between Staples Center and the 110. And we know that as part of the plan it'll also build a new Convention Center hall with a new public plaza, and it'll help expand the 101 and the Metro station at Pico. But what hasn't been discussed much is the work AEG intends to do on seven blocks of Francisco Street stretching from the Financial District to the new Farmers Field area--they want to convert the stretch into a bustling link called the Avenue of Angels. AEG described the plan at a session at the American Planning Association conference yesterday and our mole on the inside tells us that "Ted Tanner of AEG described how they envisioned transforming Francisco street into something like the Gaslamp District in San Diego or the French Quarter in New Orleans. He didn't say more than that, only that they were still developing the plan for it." The Downtown News mentioned the Ave. of Angels briefly back in January, saying only that "AEG is eyeing partnerships with other area property owners to spur development along Francisco Street to improve connectivity between South Park and the Financial District."

We're also told that someone at the session yesterday asked for specifics on the expansion of the Blue/Expo/Silver Line Pico station, but AEG didn't have details, "just noted that they planned to spend $10 million on making improvements and expanding the station and enhancing the streetscape around it. They were working with Metro to figure out how to make the station work better."

Looking at the third shot, Pico will still exist? Will it be a tunnel?

Yes, Pico already goes under the convention center, the tunnel will just be longer with the new hall being constructed.

I like the fifth one. 18 people in the room, and only three are paying attention to the guy making the presentation.

I think we can safely assume that this is the famous "LA Card" once more. Without any intention of actually moving there, the NFL and owner puts on a major courting show so as to panic taxpayers into giving more of their money to billionaires and wanna be billionaires (Goodell).

And of course Mayor V just eats this up since it looks like he is actually involved in the process instead of a no-dialogue walk-on.

Sorry for the cynicism, but this has happened with Oakland, SF (multiple teams), SD, St. Louis, etc., etc.

Looking at the new renderings, I've been meaning to ask a few things.

Will L.A. Live Way still exist after Farmers Field is actually built?

Or will L.A. Live Way be part of the stadium's footprint? Or will it be turned into a pedestrian area like Chick Hearn will inevitably become?

Goodell had a meeting with Minnesota state government and it was a productive meeting, allegedly.
