How long does it take to do each building, on average?

basic shaped buildings, like a simple box or something like that, takes about 10mins. But The buildings with a lot of detail, floors and/or faces can take up to 45 minutes. The longest London3Dproject model I have done actually took 3 days though

That was the first model, London3Dproject - Downtown 1. It was from the original project - the one with the detailed buildings. Unfortunately Google has removed it from the GE layer now because of unfinished textures.

My most recent one took nearly 4 hours, it took all night, but it was a massive block so its kind of a let off,
Sometimes i do random tower blocks just for fun, and some of them take 2 minutes. Average block about 10-20 minutes as earthbuilder said.

Cool.
![]() I just had another look on GE and the City of London looks quite dense now. It's great how you can start to see the roads between the buildings - here's what I mean: ![]() Keep up the great work.

Thank you if you are interested, you could take pictures in GE and submit them to our competition. Either on facebook, Our blog or Twitter ![]() Btw - For all Volunteers. Will you please send me a message with your Warehouse username? I need it so I can add you models to our collection. If it isn't in the Collection, it isn't a part of the project

I'm going to watch your Youtube clip again and get involved. It's tediously quiet at work at the mo and, firewall permitting, I could be doing something useful with my down time! Besides, I could look at GE and say "You see that giant of a building? Well, I built that in Google Earth!" |

The Criteria you have to follow is very strict. Sometimes outrages me with the rubbish excuses they come up with when my models get rejected.

Oh theres a list of things - Here. http://sketchup.google.com/intl/en/3..._criteria.html
Individual ones aren't too difficult to follow but what i experience is that sometimes they judge them incorrectly, which is extremely annoying becuase you then have to wait another week for something to happen. Also, what I think is that if your model is rejected, and you edit and fix it, each time a different person marks it, which is also very annoying. It's not too difficult, it's easy to get the hang of ![]() Good luck anyway FutureImperfect, it is indeed a very satisfying feeling uploading and getting buildings on to google earth ![]() PS: sorry about this poorly presented post, i'm in quite a hurry for something.

![]() It would've been even more annoying over a year ago when Google Earth's 3D layer was updated every MONTH (if that). In other words, the Google guys have improved the process of reviewing models a lot in the few years I've been doing this Google 3D modelling malarchy. Granted it's not perfect but you have to appreciate they have to look at literally thousands of submissions from all over the world every week yet still set some side apart to respond to appeals (which I've done a few times & am impressed by the more specific responses from an actual person than a generic auto reply). Guess my point is patience & understanding is the key & reckon 3D London will look very impressive in a few months time.... Keep up the good work
