Name Of The Project:-Sindri Revival Plan

Cost Of The Project:- Rs 35,000 cr / $9 billion

Time Duration:- 2012-2016

Current Status:- Approved by Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on 4 August,2011.Land is already available.

Key Facts:-

* Sindri unit of the erstwhile Fertiliser Corporation of India (FCIL) in Jharkhand was one of the first fertilizer plants in India which went defunct in 2003.

* SAIL proposes to set up:-

* A 5.6 million tonne per annum greenfield steel plant with an investment of Rs 26,000 cr.

* A 1.15 million tonne fertiliser plant with investment of around Rs 4,450 crore.

* It also envisages establishment of a power plant with an outlay of around Rs 4,000 crore.

* The entire project would be steered by a special purpose vehicle with a PSU character having three subsidiaries to look after the steel, fertiliser and power plants.

* The proposed 1.15 million tonne gas-based urea plant would be set up after dismantling and disposing of the existing urea plant at the site.

* The total land available with FCIL at Sindri is 6,652.6 acres, out of which about 5,481.6 acres of land would be available for the proposed project.

Cost Of The Project:- 20,500 cr +/ $5 billion+

Time Duration:- 2009-2021

Current Status:- Phase I in progress.

Key Facts:-

* It is being contracted by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and will be the first monorail in India.

* There are 7 lines proposed :-

• PHASE I(completion by 2015)
  
  
  1. Chembur to Jacob Circle(Ghadge Maharaj Chowk via Mahul.) The first part from Wadala to Chembur (8.26 km) is to open by December 2011, with the remaining 11.28 km from Gadge Maharaj Chowk to Wadala to follow in July 2012.
     
     
  2. Thane - Mira Bhayandar -Dahisar - 24.25 km
     
     
  3. Lokhandwala Complex to Kanjurmarg via SEEPZ - 13.14 km
     
     
  4. Mulund – Borivili - 30 km
     
     
  5. Virar to Chikhaldongri - 4.60 km
     
  
  
• PHASE II(completion by 2021)
  
  
  1. Kalyan to Dombivli via Ulhasnagar - 26.40 km
     
     
  2. Chembur to KoperKhairane via Ghatkopar - 16.72 km
     
     
  3. Kalyan to Mahape - 21.10 km
     
     

* Larsen and Toubro along with Scomi,received a 2,460 crore (US$548.58 million) contract to build and operate the monorail until 2029.

* Cost of construction - Elevated Mono Rail is Rs.139 crores/km. (2009-10 rates)

* ROLLING STOCK:

• Train Composition
• 4 cars
• 15 Nos
• Shell of Extruded Aluminum ( painted)
• Driving Cab at Both Ends of 4 Car Train
• Air-conditioning
• Single axle bogie, two per car, axle load 11 tons
• Running wheel with Rubber tyres
• Stabling and guiding horizontal wheels 3 on each side
  

* AUTOMATIC FARE COLLECTION:

• Fare media: Contactless smart token
• For single journey.
  or multiple journeys.
• Gates: Computer controlled retractable flap type automatic gates
• Ticket office machine (TOM/EFO): Manned Ticket office machine
• Ticket reader and Portable ticket decoder
• Passenger Operated Machine/Ticket Vending Machine
• Power: UPS (uninterrupted power at stations as well as for OCC).

Key Facts

• Country's largest Public Sector Refinery by 2016 with 15.5 Million Metric Tones of Per Annum (MMTPA) at a cost of Rs 12,500 Crore
  
• Country's largest Public Sector Petrochemicals complex under plans- Costing around $ 1.45 Billion (6500 Crore INR) as phase 1
  
• Establishment of a 1200 MW Powerplant using byeproducts like coke etc.

Current status

• Phase Two dedicated to the nation- Today on 21/10/2011 at a cost of Rs 4000 Crore, increasing the capacity from 7.5 MMTPA to 9.5 MMTPA and installation of new facilities like Vacuum Gas Oil Hydro-Desulphurisation (VGOHDS) Unit, Continuous Catalyst Regeneration Unit, Naphtha Hydro Treater Unit and Sulphur Recovery Unit.
  
• Establishment of dedicated captive power plant at 36 MW and other support facilities at a cost of Rs 300 crore.

Key Facts:

• Tilaiya Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) is an upcoming 3,960 MW power project at Hazaribagh district, Jharkhand.
  
  
• Tilaiya UMPP is a pit-head power project and has been allocated two captive coal mine blocks – Kerandari ‘B’ and ‘C’ – having reserves of almost 1.3 billion.
  
  
• The mining plan approved for the project envisages production of almost 40 million tonne of coal a year.
  
  
• Power generated form the proposed will be supplied to ten states of northern and eastern India at a levelised tariff of R1.77 a unit.
  
  
• the project and coal mine together involve almost 13,500 acres of land of which almost 11,00 acres would be coal mines.
  
  
• The financial closure process for the project has been initiated and it is expected that the project would be financed at a debt to equity ratio of 75:25.
  
  
• It will generate 21.3 million certified emission reduction (CER) certificates, which can be sold in the market, this should help it generate additional revenue of over R2,000 crore over the initial ten years of its operations.

Name Of The Project: Jalayagnam(Andhra Pradesh)

Cost Of The Project: Rs 1.5 lakh crore / $38 billion

Time Duration: 2004-?

Current Status: Around 20% work completed & currently work is progrssing at snail's pace.Rs 65,000 crore already spent.


Key Status:-

* This project accords the highest priority for the development of irrigation infrastructure, particularly in backward and drought prone areas by taking up this program in a big way. Jala Yagnam includes a number of irrigation projects by construction of reservoirs and lift irrigation systems for lifting water from major rivers, particularly from Godavari, to provide immediate irrigation benefits.

* It involves 88 irrigation projects which aims to provide irrigation to an extent of 7.1 million acres besides stabilization of an existing ayacut of 2,132,000 acres while providing drinking water to a population of 12 million and generating power to the tune of 1700 MW.

* Of the total 86 major and medium irrigation projects taken up under the programme, only 12 have been completed fully and 21 partially in the last seven-and-a-half years.

* An additional irrigation potential of 20 lakh acres has been created out of these projects.

* It involves projects like Rs.16,010-crore Polavaram project.

Govt looks to speed up mega projects

NEW DELHI: Facing criticism over project delays, the government has decided to get cracking and set up a dedicated forum to remove bottlenecks such as coal linkages and environmental and defence clearances that hold up projects.

Top government officials told TOI that following the meeting of the Prime Minister's Council on Trade & Industry last month, the department of industrial policy and promotion has been asked to identify projects and remove bottlenecks in consultation with other departments and ministries.

Similarly, the department of public enterprises will deal with all such concerns pertaining to public sector projects, several of which are pending for years.
