FJORDCITY | Sjurs°ya

Now finally the solution to moving some fuel tanks allows for the full growth of the container business to be situated at Sjurs°ya in Oslo habour marina. This is also a demand due to the building of the Fjordcity that is going on in Oslo today and in the future.

I really do question the visibility and effects the buildings will have from say Aker brygge and Ekeberg???????

They say that both green areas beetween the area and housing will make the area both more accessible and beautiful. But i have doubts. First of all they need to design buildings and areas with an extreme eye for architecture so that buildings and green spaces are beautifully coexisting.

I believe everything will rely on how good looking they will make the surrounding buildings and areas.

^ There will be a new roundabout with ramps built over E18, and it will be widened to 3+3 lanes from Operatunnelen to this new intersection. Construction starts next year.

^ There's simply no room for extension. Long term one should expect a new tunnel all the way. But it's one of many projects on the infrastructure wishing list untill 2030.

If it was up to me the containers should be placed further down the fjord. This area would be perfect for a highrise cluster, oh.. let's say between 150-250 meters, with offices, hotels and congress centre. There could be casinos, consert/boxing arenas, hound racing arena etc etc. We could name the area Sin City, and change the name from "Mosseveien" to "Casino drive". And, of course, we should plant some of those winter palms along the road, to get the right feeling...

I am on completely and utterly on your side mate. Theres nothing more than further development of the Fjordcity that i want to see, but when they have decided this, and yes Oslo needs supply of a lot of stuff.

What i was thinking about is the type of architecture they use on shit buildings like tanks, pipes and containers and small administration buildings! Thats the sort of shit buildings that needs to get a LOT nicer if they are to be built there. Off course i would love to be able to walk from say Aker Brygge to way down Nordstrand along the fjordline with nothing but beautiful apartment complexes, cool offices and great architecture, but i dont think they will build another place for containers, fuel, and whatnot another place in Oslo for about 100 years. And where would that location be?

If the government said; **** it, will build another container harbour way down in S°rlandet some place, that shit would make me ******* happy, but im betting thats hoping for too much ay................................

What's with the entitlement complex, people? Most cities have huge harbors that act as barriers to the city, with this we're gonna have a medium sized harbor a nice distance from the main waterfront.

This will be way better than how it was 30 years ago, when you had a massive harbor blocking the fjord access for most of Oslo.

I think it looks great.
