Yeah, it's odd that something 300+ meters is now a 'mid-rise'.

The Address in Dubai is 300+metres but it looks like a small shack next to Burj Kalifa.

Sorry but you didn't get it. I was surprised at midrise not because Barbaric called a tower with this name but because it's not a tower that will go to the second hole but a lowrise dome-like structure.

This tower is even more beautiful than the ST! This is going to be a true landmark and there will be more towers to come to Wuhan but this one will stay an icon.

If true then the river will be to the right in the render. But the render is from the perspective of above the river, the left will have 636m and the right will have the "midrises" (and further to the left, not pictured, will be 404m). The brown residential highrises are already T/O and behind these two plots so my perspective is certainly correct. It might be just the buildings in the back half of the foreground are u/c and neither the dome nor the tallish building in the front right are U/C currently. But I am quite certain the render shows what is being built currently.

Ok I see it now I saw that highrise tower right to the GC and thought this is the completed tower we always have seen pictures taken from ( I thought the river is on the left) but apparently perspective fooled me. Thanks for clarification though

I kindly disagree. That foundation looks like the foundation for a 300m building, not a dome.

You should have noticed I already admitted to mistake two posts above your But you're wrong that a huge hole always guarantees a tall building. Just look at pingan tower , lotte tower or many tianjin projects. They all have huge holes and only small part is to be occupied by towers. Huge hole means large underground complex but not necessarily a tall building above it

Is there a structural reason as to the gap between the inner wall and cladding and the outer wall? I would guess that it allows better wind passage through/around the building?

Exactly, it's for the wind, so the wind load on the structure is reduced. Additionally, it would be possible to put wind turbines in the gap if desired. Adrian Smith, the designer, did this in one of his past towers, the Guangzhou Pearl Tower.
