I think the scaled cladding looks better, but the horizontal cladding works better with the openings. Either way is amazing, can't wait to see some cladding on this tower (probably in a year or so)

Why do so many of the world's tallest buildings have a triangular design?

To support the massive loads, especially wind, I think.

That's right. You can clearly see it in the render below:

sure they will overtake and even finish GC faster, because KT needs "a little" more levels to build

I meant it could overtake KT already this year.

Looking at the render, can't help but notice a good chunk is vanity space. What is the "roof" height of the tower? ~550m? Still a really beautiful looking building, and I am hoping they open up an observation deck on top.

According to AS & GG the useable floor space is about 300.000 sq.m.
Quote:
The 119-level tower in Wuhan, China will be comprised of about 300,000 square meters of floor area, including about 200,000 sm of offices, 50,000 sm of luxury apartments and condominiums, a 45,000 sm five-star hotel, and a 5,000 sm, 27-meter-tall private club with spectacular views at the tower’s penthouse level.
http://smithgill.com/work/wuhan_greenland_center/

That's not as much floor space as Ping An in Shenzhen (~ 450.000 sq.m) but not really bad: Lotte World Tower in Seoul has ~ 300.000 sq.m / Goldin Finance in Tianjin ~ 370.000 sq.m.

The highest occupied floor is 567m, and yes, there will be an observation deck at this hight

the 450.000 sqm of Ping an are just the Development GFA, not the Tower GFA which will probably be a bit less. At least CTBUH says that.

This could be true. KPF on their website says 389.000 sq.m
www.kpf.com/project.asp?T=9&ID=163
I think the most not for occupied floors used hight based on the total hight has the Kingdom Tower with its 300m tall concrete spire

Oh nice.

Highest in China is Canton Tower at 488m and Shanghai WFC is at 474m.

Isn't that even higher than Burj Khalifa's new deck?

Will definitely have to visit it once its finished. Though from my time living in Wuhan, there won't be much to look at. It's in Hankou along the river, isn't it? Usually the pollution is fairly thick and you can barely see across, wonder if it would be possible to spy out the Yellow Crane Tower.
