Guys, do you know if CTA published special maps for all the construction works that are currently underway? I mean all the detours, like few days ago a half of the loop was closed and the elevated lines had their service interrupted. Are they available at the stations?

That project is the largest of 2012, and includes shutting down half of the loop elevated during the weekend for 8 weekends.

Since it's during the period when the system is used the least and covers weekends for two months, they didn't print new maps. A vast majority of people don't know it's happening, as the loop handles most of its traffic during the weekdays.

Actually where that picture is taking isn't actually the main part of the platform. Most of the platforms are central, with the trains coming along the outsides. In some stations the last two cars of the trains can reach back into a tight area where the stairs up to the street are blocking the central area.

It's very tight, but for the most part its only a few meters long and locals are the only people who know to walk back there to try and board with less crowds where they can actually squeeze on during rush hour.

On the CTA website, yes. All of the service disruptions and alerts are posted ahead of time. Train operators also make routine announcements before you enter the Loop.

That's not typical at all. That's where the front 1 or 2 cars stop (as you can see from the yellow 8/6 sign) and the strairwell takes up the island space. The rest of the platform has enough space.
