MOR can build the tunnel between Tianjin West and Tianjin stations in a few years, but the Tianjin metro expansion, originally promised for 2007, shows no signs of nearing completion. Sigh, why can't the more useful projects get done faster...

Indeed, it passes Tianjin South.

How far away is Tianjin South from central Tianjin?
I understand that out of the 310 000 people of Xiqing District, 240 000 are peasants.

Is a railway between Tianjin and Qinhuangdao under construction?

With the tunnel, could a train from Shanghai turn after Tianjin South to Tianjin West, stop in Tianjin and then reach Beijing South via Wuqing rather than Langfang?

Central Government vs City Hall. Central Government wins everytime.

Tianjin-Qinhuangdao PDL is still under suspension due to violation of environmental regulations.

Don't know exactly when that's gonna happen as the latest news suggest an opening date changed to "by the end of 2012". The following article says to open at the end of 2012 but the Chinese original says within 2012, without specifying a date. Interesting to note that it says it initially will run at a speed slower than 350km/h, may suggest it will eventually achieve its designed speed.

Now that Nanjing-Hangzhou high speed railway is delayed, is Dalian-Shenyang-Harbin high speed railway on schedule to start testing in March?

According to a Heilongjiang Province government Harbin-Dalian PDL is on schedule, joint calibration and testing will commence on April 1st and opening date is July 1st. Infrastructure construction of railway and stations have completed, currently work is concentrated on electrical and signal system install, and station decoration. Here is the only English article I can find. http://english.dbw.cn/system/2012/02/08/000465898.shtml

In other words, the testing has become delayed out of the month of March and into the month of April.

Is the testing of Wuhan-Zhengzhou-Shijiazhuang high speed railway on schedule to start within March?

I would but its subscription only Steel Industry mag, they track the steel purchases for rail production and see slowdowns in purchases before their announced. China Southern Airways announced a further two year delay to the rail projects it was financing.

Anyone got further details on the stops along the line and the travel time? I suppose Shenyang and Jilin should be stops?

Okay fair enough, care to post the article? Because just listen to yourself, China Southern Airways? There is no such entity, if a professional steel industry magazine publish such crap I weep for its professionalism.

Here are the 24 stations, total travel time three hours (non-stop train), but with reduced speed it'll be between 3.5 and 4 hours.

Any news on the Shanghai - Chengdu line? According to Wikipedia it's set to open in 2012.

Which lines are going to open this year?
