Its not a knock off it IS a shinkansen E2 series. Japan provided the first batch China has license to built the rest its 60 of them if I remember it correctly. Why do people always think its a copy or knock off? Never thought of the possibility that they could actually buy one? Geez.

Oh in another note, China will also obtain the new Pendolino trains, and the ICE3 derived train by 2008

Agree, it's a common dumb comment. China are researching hsr and maglev, but in both instances they went ahead and bought a functioning foreign system. The most sensible approach all round imo.

Believe me the next target of China accusing wave will be the China's ARJ series commercial passenger airplanes which is supposed to debut in 2008.

It is in theory a version of the MD-80... MD sold China the DC-9 technology.

How do you guys compare this CRH vs Japanese Shinkansen or Korean Version one in term of performance and technology?

Anybody has information regarding ARJ21 which will debut in 2008?

Thx

E2-1000 is not one of the cutting-edge Shinkansen models in Japan...at least not anymore. Regardless, any train that runs 250 km/h in service is a formidable piece of technology.

China's railways plan to accommodate 300+ km/h trains within a few years.

If china does have its own high speed technology as pics showed, but still despetely seeking Germany, France and Japan for negotiations, I'll conclude that the motive behind this is more for potential technology absorption. Are high speed 'technologies' flexible enough for creative uses, including civil and military purposes? Sorry for raising up the defense or military issue here, I don't mean to be rude here.

well, the foreigners only want 2 make money of u, so the best thing is 2 get the technology so that u can make ur country better n build everything for urself not relyin foreign companies because they can rip u off, just 1line of chinese high speed train cost something like 20billion usd, china is so big there will be hundres of lines being build in the future, so if we can build our own one it will be much better, and of course we develop them better than when the technology imported in the first place. I think technology should be shared because it makes every human being better, why not? is all because of money, isnt it, every countries r selfish of course

Sorry, but as for me it doesn't look like exceeding even a modest 160 km/h. Its aerodynamics is ok for suburban train or metro, but definitely not for HSR.

Why there are too many different trains running in China?
And why there are too many jets and ships in this thread?
Confusing.

CRH1 DEBUT 1/2 2007 FROM GUANGZHOU-SHENZHEN
