No service Chengdu to beyond Xian, though.
I find it curious that there is no 'D' service between Chongqing to Lanzhou, despite the line being fully built for high-speed running. The southern half has high-speed trains from Chongqing to Guangyuan, also now beyond to Xi'an on the Chengdu-Xi'an HSR. There must be enough traffic to justify going to Lanzhou, even with the low population along the northern half of the line. However a high speed trip will technically be quicker, via Xi'an, pending on the train transfer times.

On new Chongqing-Lanzhou railway:

K1583 - Chongqing to Lanzhou West 09:00-21:06 for 12h 6 m

Or

D1969 - Chongqing North to Xi'an North 09:05-14:29
D2693 - Xi'an North to Lanzhou West 15:00-18:10

So in 9 hours, 3 hours, quicker despite the long detour.

However I do note the price for the conventional train is 137RMB for a hard seat, why the D trains are 332RMB and 207RMB, 2nd class, each because of the longer distances and high speed rate per km.

A network connecting an old train system with modern rail has been launched between the southern Xinjiang railway and the Lanzhou-Xinjiang High-speed railway. Trains on the high-speed line can go much faster and hence cut travel time. The railways transfer passengers shuttling between the two lines at a designated speed of 100 kilometers per hour.

Shijiazhuang-Jinan high-speed railway put into use

Shijiazhuang-Jinan railway expands high-speed network

(ECNS) -- A high-speed passenger railway linking Hebei's provincial capital of Shijiazhuang and Jinan, capital of neighboring Shandong Province, started operation on Thursday amid China's ongoing efforts to enhance its railway network.

The centerpiece of China's high-speed rail grid, known as "Four Vertical and Four Horizontal," is composed of eight rail corridors, four running north-south and four east-west.

The Shijiazhuang-Jinan railway is part of a horizontal trunk line from western Taiyuan, capital of coal-rich Shanxi Province, to eastern Qingdao, a coastal city in Shandong.

The 319-kilometer railway, with a designed speed of 250 kilometers per hour, will shorten the current four-hour traveling time between Shijiazhuang and Jinan to one hour and twenty minutes. Construction started in August 2013.

The Shijiazhuang-Jinan link also means a high-speed railway connection among regions traditionally affected by the Yanshan Mountains and Taihang Mountains, making Shijiazhuang an important hub closely linked with Beijing, Tianjin, Dezhou in Shandong by high-speed trains.

In another development, as China Railway Corp. started the new timetable on Thursday, more high-speed trains now connect southwestern regions with Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province. It takes 7 hours and 47 minutes to travel from Chengdu City, capital of southwestern Sichuan Province, to Beijing by the country's next generation bullet train "Fuxing," cutting the time by half.

Tianjin, about 100 kilometers southwest of Beijing, also links Chengdu directly with a high-speed train for the first time in history.

"Fuxing" debuted on the Beijing-Shanghai line in June. The new bullet trains, also known as electric multiple units (EMU), boast top speeds of 400 kilometers per hour and a consistent speed of 350.

China has the world's longest railway network at 22,000 kilometers by the end of 2016, about 60 percent of the world's total.

Key east-west high-speed rail starts operation

http://www.xinhuanet.com/english/201..._136857428.htm

SHIJIAZHUANG, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Operation started Thursday on a 298 kilometer high-speed rail way linking Shijiazhuang, capital of Hebei Province, to Jinan, capital of Shandong Province in east China.

The line is a key high-speed rail line running between the east and the west. It creates a bridge between two key north-to-south lines, the Beijing-Guangzhou and Beijing-Shanghai express rail lines, and further integrates China's express rail network.

Trains run at a speed of 250 kilometers per hour. Travel time of a Shijiazhuang-Jinan journey is cut to two hours and nine minutes from three hours and 47 minutes, China Railway said.

Construction of the railway started in 2014.
