Nice train but I don't really like the color for the Pendolino. I was hoping they will stick with the white and blue colors.

Probalby because it's based on a Swedish train, we have high platforms compared to most countries. Never understood why one'd build low platforms - the higher they are the less need for any stairs to get onboard (and more space under the floors on the trains for the enngineers to work with).

Impressive! Considering its size, there seem to be only few train tracks going in and out of the station.

Bullet train makes debut from Shanghai to Beijing!

Bullet train makes debut from Shanghai to Beijing

A bullet train makes its debut at a railway station in Shanghai January 28, 2007. The new CRH (China Railway High-speed) bullet train, which has a top speed of 250 kph (155 mph), would cut the journey time on the key Beijing-Shanghai route from nine hours to five. [Reuters]

X6
What speed does it reach?

No seriously, it really looks like the Shinkansen, is that a Japanese technology transfer?

It is, and there is already a thread about this in this forum, it debuted in jan 28, almost a month ago.

i dont think it runs to Beijing, i think this thread is saying IF it runs to beijing it will cut the travelling time by 3 hours, but in actuality this train only goes to Nanjing and Hangzhou (both are 200 km from Shanghai).

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=435894

Edit: See my sig.

two years ago Chinese government was deicidng between various companies and their proposals, i guess what they finally did was to give each company a part of contract and ask for tech transfer, also instead of buidling a complete Beijing-Shanghai high speed, they decide to build Beijing-Tianjin and Nanjing-Shanghai first which are segments that will see most traffic and also in most need of HSR, smart idea...and that is the CRH we have today.

I believe sometime in the future a complete Beijing-Shanghai highspeed will be built and Chinese trains will be used, just like how KTX and AVE developed.
