It covers 344 sq.kms and is a separate city.

Just take a look at International Infotech Park, Vashi. Its just flat out ugly 60ish architecture. But the rest of the Navi Mumbai has beautiful cityscape with wide streets & great atmosphere. I hope Navi Mumbai really becomes a Schenzen of India.

BUT FOR THAT TO HAPPEN, Indian & Mumbai government needs to be lenient & relaxed laws regarding skyscrapers atleast for Navi Mumbai's sake. Or else, we are gonna have more infotech parks like Vashi ones.

We desperately need to have some 70 stories atleast in Navi Mumbai in future in order to compete with chinese cities. For now, Navi Mumbai with superb infrastructure is our best bet.

Doesn't look half bad, so it doesn't have a shiny glass facade, it's pretty nice. Navi Mumbai SEZ is a big project and I'd like to see nice talls come up too, but I don't know why you wanna see 70 storey towers so desperately in India. :-) After all, it's not exactly gonna improve the lives of general people is it? The infrastructure in NM is excellent and the SEZ should be a well planned and connected place, so nice looking skyers could very well come up rapidly in the coming years. When it happens, it'll be terrific.

Kshatriya............anyways. Int. Infotech. Park, Vashi is how most of the federal prisons look like in USA minus the barbwire & electricity runing through it. the narrowest of the narrow windows, but NOT the circular windows on side(check out the tower 5 in images). It has the clastrophobic feel to it. I guess whatever helps one concentrate on his/her work inside.

But lets hope the new project coming up for Navi Mumbai SEZ are sleek, modern & ultra creative like rest of the modern mumbai skyline. Alright maybe not 70 stories skyers. Lets hope couple of 40 stories come up.

^ Well yeah the windows are too small. The building itself is a little too boxy. Maybe some improvements and it will look a lot nicer. The SEZ will see more commercial talls, unlike Mumbai whose skyline is largely residential. This means taller and more to-your-taste buildings. :-)

You have to realize that those buildings are actually railway stations planned during the early eighties and built much later going into the nineties. The idea to convert them to tech parks is a just a couple of years old. As railway stations they don't have parallels in India.

I will say Mumbai has a decent skyline.

And Navi Mumbai skyline looks great when you cross the rail bridge from Mankhurd to Vashi. It's not very tall but it long and nice ( I liked it ) because very few cities in India have such a vista while approaching by train.

But no one has taken a panoramic pic of that yet.

I took a shot but it got messed up becuase the train was moving too fast....yeah it does look nice. When was the last time u've been to Mumbai/NM?

Are the navi mumbai stations clean and tidy? I know a couple of them under construction are of pretty modern design! Hopefully, they'll run newer trains on them!

Anyways, the best for Navi Mumbai is not to follow it's bigger brother Mumbai!
