And I love to travel, I've unfortunately passed the age limit to fly out under my father's credit card.

God I'm so nervous..I think if either the USA or Australia get it, either one will host a phenomenal World cup..Unfortunately the Cynic in me thinks the "mega-petro-dollars in brown paper bag" routine will sway things towards Qatar
Less than 20 hours until we find out. I know I speak for a lot of people who think that if Qatar get the Cup, it will be a huge indictment on the processes of FIFA. whether Qatar 'bribed' their way trough or not, the perception is out there...and it has the potential to seriously harm the image of the sport in market like Australia that is already a bit wary of a "foreign invader" like football. I imagine, without knowing that feelings in the USA would be similar?
Qatar is essentially One city of Doha(600,000) at best, the World Cup should not be held in one city, it is an event for entire countries. Even the IOC which awards its premiere event "The Olympics" to a single city, threw out Qatar's bid as being not even close to meeting basic technical requirements. How in Gods name could FIFA even contemplate Qatar unless there are shenanigans? And this is where the perception of $$ in the brown paper bag comes from.
Will FIFA do the right thing? I doubt it, they have poor form in this area(crikey it took them 2 goes to get the Cup to South Africa after Charlie Dempsey screwed the Africans out of 2006!)
Its going to be a long day and night and I've never been so nervous about something I cant really affect the outcome of.

However I remember Sepp's almost annual promise to get OFC a direct qualification berth for the World Cup. Seen lots of good, but been burned by FIFA too many times to go into tonight with blind optimism My personal opinion is that If we don't get it, we won't get to bid again in my lifetime(I'm 33) but I'd be happy to travel to the USA even with their ridiculous security measures just to get on a plane, to wit: porno-scanners and TSA grope-downs. So Australia is my number one hope, but if its not to be for us, then I'll take the yanks any day of the week over Qatar. Just my personal opinion on where I'd like to travel to watch a World Cup

You do realise that the 2022 World Cup is 12 years away, don't you?

0 points for Japan, South Korea & USA, because they've recently had their go at hosting.

0 points for Qatar because they are unproven at hosting major events.

That is all.

Thanks for listening.
