ZOHO plans to add 2000 employees in this campus

if half of the people settle around that area then sure the adjoining areas would see a boom as all are MNC employees and their way of lifestyle is premium and so the surrounding areas witness some more additional quality shops servicing these people and so on....this cycle continues and impact all.

GST houses after vandalur is settled by mahindara city, shriram gateway, SRM people.

now new addition ...

Zoho is not going to add 2000 new employees. Its going shift its office from existing campus in DLF. So most of the employees are settled within city limits already. Some will be moving closer to work location near Estancia campus.

While I agree that consolidation exercise may not lead to people moving to GST suburbs in high numbers, I would still presume this as a good news from Chennai IT perspective, as it will be relatively easier for DLF to attract new companies than Estancia.

this is the same told while forming shriram gateway and mahindara city and starting SRM campus in kattankulathur

but the reality is these are the people who setlled in large numbers in this locality.

commuting from city is not a cakewalk

and also experiencing some developments in near to their workplace itself then people would start thinking to settle here itself.

this is how Velachery and guindy formed 20 years ago when these areas are called suburbs

read the news below.

there is no news of shifting from DLF

CHENNAI: Fast-expanding IT product firm Zoho Corporation has acquired 100% equity in L&T Chennai Projects and thereby will get beneficial interest of SEZ land in Vallancheri village near Maraimalai Nagar. The land was held by L&T Chennai Projects, a developer of the SEZ. Zoho didn't comment on the transaction details.

The acquisition has been ratified by the board of approvals. A share purchase agreement was executed between the two firms on May 9, 2013.

Zoho has been looking for more office space as it is growing fast and its existing facility in DLF IT Park in Porur is falling short. "We are running out of space in Porur office. There is a lot of growth on the horizon especially in cloud computing," said Hyther Nizam, V-P of product management at Zoho in an interaction prior to approval granted by the board of approvals. He also said the company is looking to expand its workforce by at least 20% in the next 12 months, of which half have already been recruited through campus hiring. Zoho also has an office at Tenkasi in Tirunelveli district, in which 30 employees are working.

Zoho, founded in 1996, is an IT product firm headquartered in US but majority of the workforce is based in Chennai. It makes a variety of software solutions, from office productivity software to network management systems.

GST ready for a makeover

Bottlenecks choke city gateways as state, Centre clash over roads

State Department Has Taken Over Two Projects, Alleging Neglect By NHAI

Karthikeyan Hemalatha | TNN

They’ve always been at odds; now the difference of opinion between the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the state highways department has resulted in the delay of three crucial projects to widen roads at entry points to the city.
The stranded projects are: widening of a 1km stretch between Tambaram and Irumbaliyur on Grand Southern Trunk Road; widening and maintenance of a 25km stretch on Chennai-Tiruvallur High Road; and widening of GST between and Vandalur and Irumbaliyur.
The state has taken over two projects to ease bottlenecks. NHAI, which controls the roads, has left them to deteriorate, say officials from the state highways. State and NHAI officials have always been at loggerheads, and the relationship soured further after the state government blocked the Maduravoyal-Port elevated expressway project.
The government recently passed an order and sanctioned 43 crore to widen the 1km stretch between Tambaram and Irumbaliyur. The existing two-lane road will be widened to three lanes in each direction with a median with crash barriers.
“NHAI has always been uncooperative. They are not interested in city projects,” said an official in the state highways department.
On GST Road, between Vandalur and Irumbaliyur, state officials said the road is only 10m wide.
While it takes four hours to reach Vandalur from Trichy, a distance of about 300km, it takes two hours to reach the city from Vandalur, a distance of only 30km. With more buses, there are traffic snarls. “Most buses that go south stop at Perungalathur. This causes a lot of congestion,” said a state highways official.
CMDA is building a bus terminus in Vandalur. It will be twice as big as Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus in Koyambedu. The land for the 65-acre bus facility has been identified, and it will complement CMBT when completed. Sources said NHAI is reluctant to widen GST road as Outer Ring Road is under construction. “There is no concern for city traffic,” said the official.
People in the northwest of the city are having a bad time as the Chennai-Tiruvallur High Road has been ignored for at least six years. The state government recently took over the road, and plans to widen it.
“At least 10 fatal accidents every month as the roads are in a bad condition,” said T Sadagopan, a resident of Pattabiram near Avadi.
NHAI officials said theirs is a lean organisation and it focuses on larger projects.
“We don’t get funds for maintenance. If the state feels a stretch is important, we ask them to take it over, but they do not take the initiative,” said I G Reddy, the former NHAI chief general manager for TN and Kerala.

Is Asiana going ahead with its hotel plan above A2B?

Also, can someone provide Pizza Corner updates/photos in Gold Souk?

Noticed, Kalyan Grand Stay hoarding between Gold Souke mall and VGP empty land at Vandalur. It looks like they are constructing 3 star hotel.

It is the same on Chennai-Bangalore highway also, and even on ECR between Mahabs and Pondy there are lots of these..

Is there some Govt backed push to promote Kumbakonam Degree Coffee as a brand and raise awareness? Find it hard to believe so many individuals would have suddenly stumbled on this idea at the same time!

Same is the case of Villupuram to Coimbatore, i also noticed a lot of Aavin Milk booths in the highway
The road is very good except the stretch near Coimbatore which is 4 lane but yet to get finishing touch

there are 2 lane stretches at lot of places, which are bypasses to small towns i guess

overall the road is very good.

the toll will be around 400+ from chennai to coimbatore i guess

@ Kumbakonam Degree Coffee Shops on the Highways:

Only the vessels selections are same / similar - Copper Pot, Brass tumblers & Dabaras.

Quality is not uniform or consistent.

They are misusing the brand name.

(but they are much better than the earlier available Tea stalls in hygiene)
