BASRA | ACARSAN Hospital | 7 FL | 600 BEDS | T/O

he Acarsan Group, based in Gaziantep, Turkey, is set to complete the construction of five new hospitals in Iraq and hand them over to the Iraqi Health Ministry by the beginning of 2012, according to a report in Today’s Zaman.
In partnership with the Universal Hospitals Group network of Turkey, Acarsan won a recent tender to build hospitals in the Iraqi cities of Karbala, Basra, Babil-Hilla, Missan and Nasiriyah. The Acarsan Group has been operating in Iraq for 27 years as an exporter of legumes, processed food, home appliances and construction materials. Speaking with the Anatolia news agency on Monday, Chairman Selim Acar said the planned hospitals in the war-torn country will have a total bed capacity of 2,000 and that their construction costs will reach a combined figure of $750 million.
“We are expecting to win new tenders in Iraq. There are many infrastructure projects needed there, and we intend to be involved in similar Iraqi projects,” Acar said.
The Acarsan Group is one of the largest conglomerates in Turkey and has companies in flour milling, automotives, tourism, petroleum products, vehicle inspection, and health. Its new investments in Turkey and abroad will bring the company’s total labor force to around 5,000 by the end of the year.

He told NMC that the seven-floor hospital, to be built over 65 acres in 33 months, includes 492 beds initially, expanding to 600 later; he added that plans for the hospital were drawn up by a Japanese consultancy.
The company is also contracted to deliver four additional hospitals, to an identical design, in Basra, Hilla, Missan, and Nassiriyah. Total value of the contracts is reported to be between $750 million and $950 million.

I think once we get more info regarding the other hospitals, they should each get their own thread to keep track of their progress individually.

yeah about this project.. its not a scam :P

my cusin ali works for this company and yesterday i asked him about when the hospitals are to finished...

he said that so far, in the next 10 months, 3 radiotherapy centers should be open, and these are really large hospitals.. and if nothing dramatic happens all should be finished by 2012

seems like their doing a good job

its a great project, much needed in all regions of iraq, even though the initial designs were easy on the eye, its the equipment that counts, if they can manage to equip the hospitals with high quality instruments, itll be a brilliant project.
btw i skimmed through their website and found the sites of the hospitals being built, theyre all the same design with
Total Construction Area: 69,560,00 m2
Inpatient Capacity : 400

Babil

Basra

Maysan

Nasriya

Karbala
