Congrats to Russia and Qatar. Would be very interested to see how well the two nations host the WC.

Also, can mods please curb the trolling. I've been trying to read up on the qatar bid but their entire thread is filled with trolling primarily by Australian forum members.

Seriously, I can think of few places on earth worse for hosting the world cup than qatar in terms of weather, size, footballing culture and history. Antarctica maybe.

Wellll

Australians, Americans, Koreans and japanese should all stand proud together it was never possible to beat Qatar we were all cheated, it will be a failure of a world cup. I still hold some hope that the truth will come out within the next 8 years and Qatar will loose it.

I can't see Australia ever hosting now that "Johnny come lately" strolled into town demanding When! with an air of entitlement.

Damn shame, you all would have really enjoyed Australia.

I just pray that this doesn't damage the game too much here as Australians have no time for FIFA after decades of broken promises and neglect in Oceania.

Oh well, only a few months to the start of the Australian Football and Rugby seasons.

ENGLAND defeat in First round . England are using some dirty premier league stadium's. England venue's Old story but transport and accomodation are ok.

CONGRATULATIONS RUSSIA (non-communist state).

I have no comments QATAR.! Is it bribe.!
England and Australia may have been using "dirty Premier League stadiums" and the "shit" MCG in their bid but at least they had a post World Cup use. I'm sure those spakling new stadiums in Russia will look really good in the 2019 season when they're one-third full for league games (top division football in Russia attracted an average of 12,250 last season).

As for Qatar: yes it probably was the result of bribery. I'm sure the games in that tournament will be fun to play in 50C heat.

This whole story has demonstrated one thing above all else: that the whole process is inherently corrupt. English jounalists didn't invent it, they just pointed it out and showed what most of us already suspected. It is depressing but there you go...

I feel sorry for Aussie, though I gotta admit they were modest when it came to stadiums I saw a huge rise of interest in the sport lately for them.
I guess the true countries, where corruption is zero, everybody is given a chance In life, countries that eliminated problems like bribe a long time ago fail because maybe their too fair.

I don't think FIFA realizes the shit they have created
They have devalued the WC tonight and will get hammered in the media for years

FIFA choose regions that have never hosted the WC before. In that sense, the decision is understandable.

Congratulations to Russia and Qatar.
Russia will have no problems pulling this off and it probably is about time the WC went to eastern-Europe.
As for Qatar it will be very interesting, the most compact WC ever. You could stay in the same hotel and watch world class football every evening.
