SCT awards Guadalajara LRV contract
Friday, November 28, 2014

MEXICO's Secretariat of Transport & Communications (SCT) has awarded Alstom and Spanish construction company OHL a combined Pesos 6.45bn ($US 473.2m) contract to provide rolling stock and electrification for the light rail Line 3 project in Guadalajara

Alstom will supply 18 LRVs after beating off competition from CAF, with its share of the contract worth Pesos 4.5bn. OHL will implement civil works and provide overhead electrification through its Mexican Road Project Construction subsidiary. Its share of the contract is worth Pesos 1.95bn.

In addition OHL also secured a Pesos 1.66bn contract from SCT for civil works on the second phase of the project, which consists of the 7.45km elevated section from Avenida Revolucion to Bus Station. Guadalajara invites bids for light metro trains
Wednesday, September 02, 2015

BIDS have been invited for the supply of 12 two-car LRVs as part of a project to upgrade and extend light metro Line 1 in Guadalajara, Mexico

The tender, which is being funded by the World Bank, is for 750V dc standard-gauge trains. Bids must be submitted to Guadalajara Urban Electric Train System (Siteur) by October 19.

The additional trains will enable Siteur to increase capacity on Line 1 by lengthening trains by a third to six-car sets with each carrying up to 900 passengers. To accommodate longer trains station platforms are being extended from 60m to 90m. Line 1 has 12 surface stations and seven underground, all of which will be renovated

Bombardier to supply new Guadalajara fleet
05 Jan 2016

MEXICO: The Jalisco state government has selected Bombardier as preferred bidder for a contract to supply 12 two-car trainsets for Line 1 of the Guadalajara light rail system operated by SITEUR. According to the state government, 13 companies responded to the call for tenders where the winning bid of 752⋅2m pesos represents a saving of 24% on the expected cost.

With deliveries due to commence in 2017, the new trains are expected to increase peak capacity by 50% on Line 1, compatible with the existing fleet and enabling services to carry up to 900 passengers. Following a site visit last month, SITEUR Director General Rodolfo Guadalajara Gutiérrez reported that infrastructure work to upgrade and extend Line 1 was 52% complete
