Was there ever commuter or regional service around MTY back in the NdeM days? When did intercity passenger trains stop running to Monterrey? Also where there trains to Laredo? Here on the USA side, Amtrak and the Tex-Mex railroad company still operated passenger services to San Antonio and to Corpus Christi from Laredo into the late 1980s.

I feel like a international passenger train should be revived. Even if its not high speed or upgraded tracks, as long as it could maintain a good 55-70 mph and it was modern rolling stock it would work. It would simpler and safer than driving, cheaper than flying, less cramped than a bus, etc. Customs would be done at the station.

Overhead catenary system in section E, close to Conchello Station. At that day, the catenary system covered (more or less) 4.0 kilometers of the viaduct
