Siemens signalling for Metrorrey Line 3

MEXICO: The Nuevo León state government has awarded Siemens a €25m contract to provide signalling, telecoms and control systems for Monterrey light metro Line 3, having selected the company as preferred bidder at the end of May.

Siemens is to supply CTS/M automatic train protection, two Sicas electronic interlockings, its Vicos operations control system and RailCom Manager to oversee the communications network. Monitoring and control of the new line will be undertaken from the existing Metrorrey operations control centre at Cuauhtémoc.

Designed to handle an expected ridership of 280 000 passengers/day, the 7·5 km line will begin with a short tunnelled section from the Line 2 terminus at Zaragoza through the Barrio Antiguo district and then run on a mostly elevated alignment to Hospital Metropolitano in the northwest of the city. There will be nine stations, including an interchange with Line 1 at Félix U Gómez.

Line 3 is being built by a consortium of Alstom Mexicana, Constructora Garza Ponce and Constructora Moyedan under a 2·2bn pesos turnkey contract awarded in November 2013. Commissioning is scheduled for late 2015.

CAF is supplying a fleet of 22 articulated high-floor LRVs under a 3·3bn pesos contract awarded in July, which includes 20 years of maintenance and an option for another four cars. The vehicles will be similar to the 22 MM93 cars that CAF supplied to Metrorrey in 2004-05.

It is a mechanized, robotic and tech metal formwork, 60 tons, only in Nuevo Leon, built in the State of Mexico and armadio piece at the end of the tunnel, designed exclusively for the works underground City, shrinks and expands sideways rising to level just for the final cast that includes forging a waterproofing to prevent water leaks, which abound in the subsurface.

The Secretary of State for Public Works, Gerardo Luis Marroquin, said that progress from east to west to reach the shunting line 2 subway in an estimated 45 to 60 days period and at the end of that stage in December It is begin with the installation of electromechanical phase during the months of January and February, this includes the installation of catenary and power rails for the operation of the new transmission line.

Concrete casting which is applied through windows having the metal formwork at different levels.

The top of a period of 24-36 hours for this particular setting is left then there is the action of the metal formwork is down, closing to move on rails that previously rode the same template to advance nine meters , through the port up to the shunting of Metro Line 2.

Prior to the final cast multilayer coating shotcrete in the tunnel walls, together with additives in their coatings was performed.

The viaduct consists of underground excavations for scrolling through a mining tunnel that goes from the Louvre in a stretch of 300 linear feet, drawer type tunnel with steel and concrete cover, and the exit ramp to connection with the elevated viaduct which has its rise transition from the side street of Constitution Avenue to Avenue Felix U. Gómez

In the following photos of the viaduct sections, which consist of box-type beams. This type of beams is shorter than the U type.

They appear to be constructed entirely of concrete and steel, but really they are filled gaps with polystyrene to lighten.

The two sections are between Calle Calzada Geronimo Trevino and Francisco I. Madero and part of Section G, located between stations Felix U. Gomez and Adolfo Prieto.

The next series of photos were taken on Sunday, November 9th, 2014.

Section A. Maneuver section

Section B. Metropolitan Hospital Station to Los Angeles Station

Because of the blockade in certain sections of A. López Mateos / Felix U. Gomez Avenue, it was not possible to take pictures from the L.A. Station to Conchello Station.

The following photos are part of the future L.A. Station and the section C.

The viaduct will be a scar on the urban fabric, a complete monstrosity. A shame they didnt go with something much more harmonious with its surroundings.

It fits well into the surroundings. This isn't Champs Elysees.

Hmm may not be champs elysees but the massive viaducts of this metro make the area look much worse. I personally would not want to own a house or live anywhere near that thing.

New infrastructure should seek to improve an area, including its appearance. They do this well in other latin american countries like Brazil and Colombia where transportation projects usually involve beautification of poor or run down neighborhoods.

You would think they would learn from the planning mistakes of metrorrey line 1 but city planners and residents clearly dont give a damn about the image/aesthetics of their city. Almost like they're saying, "Oh well our city is already ugly so **** it".

First capital is mounted to stations Metro line 3

November 21, 2014

The Ministry of Public Works made the first assembly of 48 large capitals to be placed in the eight stations of Metro Line 3. Each station will be supported by six of these capitals.

These mega structures are constructed from reinforced and cast at the site of each station.

In the area where the Violet station will be located (between Conchello and Ruiz Cortines) from noon today maneuvers were performed to soar through heavy cranes and embedded into the already erected columns by 18 batten 1¼ inch.

This first post-tensioned precast capital measures 23 meters long and weighs 230 metric tons. On the way from line 3, we have built smaller capitals to lay the beams where will the rails and subway cars, being cast in height, unlike those who will engage in the stations slip at street level and mounted and fabricated.

Manufactured below with cranes up to the column that already has the preparations through some holes that were left in the pre-column and then the capital is attached to the column, reports the Department of Public Works of the State.
