Thing is they can only bid for the 2030 World Cup. Plus, a 24-team Euro is now hardly a "consolation prize", it's even more like a WC without Brazil and Argentina.

Would be nice to have EURO 2020, Olympics 2024 and WC 2030

But hardly the infrastructure or experience in place to do so. It's a good thing for Turkey to get the Euro.

I'd like to see Turkey getting it as well. But any chance Wales-Ireland is in the mix?

THESE NATIONS DESERVE THIS MORE THAN ANY OTHER NATION ON THAT LIST, REMEMBER CROATIA WAS 3RD PLACE IN 98...THAT WAS NOT TOO LONG AGO...
ALSO THESE NATIONS HAVE BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH SUCH AS WAR THEY DESERVE THIS!!!

probably Euro 2020 will be given to Turkey and Euro 2024 to Hungary-Romania... I doubt other countries from East or South have money and I doubt Spain/Portugal will have a chance! maybe just Italy to be involved here.

Romanian large corporate lobbying group the Foreign Investors’ Council (FIC) is spearheading a bid for the 2020 European Football Championship in collaboration with a neighbouring country, pinpointing Hungary as chief contender.

Here is a graphic with the 10 main projects from a total of 47,000 existent:

The final cost of the project should be around 5 billion euro (3,8 budget costs and the rest PPPs/EIB/private). Of course, regarding only Romania, I do not know the situation in Hungary.

There are rumours from sport that Romania and Hungary are preparing a political speech where to launch together the candidature for Euro 2020. NOT IN 2024 IT SEEMS!

The key roles of Foreign Investors Council are:

• to contribute positively to the improvement of the Romanian legal framework for commercial and tax matters;

• to promote sound business ethics;

• to project a good image of foreign investment and of business in general.

http://fic.ro/ (same guys with the new Romanian Labour Code which from many points of view will be a success; they have good philosophy and it seems the government give them credit, listening them)

Borislav Mihaylov (head of the Bulgarian Football Union) just came back from Switzerland, where he was elected as a member of UEFA's executive committee.

He just announced that Bulgaria and Romania have made an official request to host the EURO 2020.

I don't know how credible is the news. First the news come from a Bulgarian sports news website that tends to create sensational news. Second, Borislav Mihaylov tends to talk a lot, but without actually doing something.

We will see what happens within the upcoming days and if there is a confirmation from the President of the Romanian Football Union.

Would a Euro in Turkey see good attendance and would fans from other countries travel to Turkey in large numbers?

Turkey is already world's 7th most visited country by foreign tourists and it's the only country, which has two cities among top 10 most visited cities.(Antalya and Istanbul with 9.3 and 7.5 million tourist annauly). I don't see why tourist should stop coming to Turkey in 2020 suddenly.

Turkey is not even a European country. I hope Romania or some other country that never hosted the euro.

Mircea Sandu (head of the Romanian Football Federation) was also elected in the same UEFA executive committee 2nd time in a row.

ALMOST NO DOUBT, THIS WILL GO TO ROMANIA AND BULGARIA!
it was confirmed in the Romanian media also. Romania does not care with which country will host it. they proposed to both countries.
