PROJECT | Postgirobygget | 131m | 31fl | Pro

As part of Nordic innovation, a green city project spanning over all the 5 Nordic capitals, Postgirobygget has been chosen for Norway as a guiding light for sustainable building/refurbishments.

The current Postgirobygget is a 112 meter tall highrise in downtown Oslo. First built 1973, the building was heavily refurbished and extended in 2003. It houses Oslo's biggest newspaper and many other businesses, amongst them it's owner - property developer Entra eiendom.

26 proposals have been made, many suggesting extensions both in height and width. Here is a list and renderings of them all. You can vote for as many of the proposals as you want.

Copy from the Oslo dev. thread:
Many great ones here. Soooo much better than what we've got today. "Treelogic" was something special.

So many great proposals!

Can't believe this is actually happening. One of the more important projects for downtown in years.. (excluding Bj°rvika ofc)

Good design = acceptance for taller buildings.

I believe there are three entries that I haven't now as I had troubles copying the picture from the pdfs. Will look into to it later unless anyone else post them. The three entries that I haven't posted are Solar Diamond, Transformator and something which I have forgotten. ;P

so is something really going to be built after the competition, I assume so considering a big cash award?
or is this just a case-study?

I somehow love illustration #4. The simple, yet elegant, glass facade makes it look like something that one could find in Frankfurt A.M.

Entra eiendom is on-board, and sponsoring the competition. Off course it has to go through the bureaucracy, and if it turns to expensive you never know.

I don't know if this is a rendering error, but I hope so. If not, then the architect must have been smoking some rather exotic cocktail of illegal substances. I mean, it's good to be creative and all that, but this does nothing against the notion that architects have no sense or understanding of the laws of physics.

Also, the building looks like it's in the middle of an explosion. Which, come the first autumn gale, wouldn't be too far from what would actually happen.

Here is another render of it:

And the information about the facade taken from the pdf:

It's entry number 20, called Posthuset Refurbishment project.

It might look cool, but its just to big and dominant for the area. its as if they have gone for a solution that takes the building back to the original design. Only way that design is going to work is if they separate it into two half's (two trees) in different hights with air (glass) between them.

Sleek. Should have been double the height though.
