The Majorstua "tower" is soon dead. Nimbyism won. I saw an obnoxious TV2 news spot on the development the other day. They used a veslevoksen 15 year old kid and the principal crying their sad tears over the evil developer. The perspective that the city actually needs more homes in the inner city, that it's environmentally friendly, that it increases utility, that it may give these kids an opportunity to live where they actually want to live in a few years, that it may actually add something to Majorstua and make it a more attractive place is completely absent

The media sure know how to take advantage of the NIMBY narrative.

Those kids are brainwashed by their teachers and parents. In a way they are mentally abused in the name of the nimby -God...

The towers will come. The longer everybody is holding back, the more brutal it will be WHEN we have to build higher. This is not if, only when. Another great example of how Norwegians can't plan for the future

True! It is also mind-boggling why it seems to be the environment friendly people who always fight against it. Local sun/shadow issues win against the bigger picture regarding effective energy solutions...

That would be a great cluster, somehow reminds Tallinn CBD. What chances have something like this in the near future?

Picture a snowball inside a furnace in the middle of the Sahara...

Seems mostly nice, but that concrete wall on the last picture will not make for a nice street, even if it is painted with flowers...

And also seems quite unnecessary. They talk about bringing back the building's original use (a market hall) and creating contact with the street, which is all good, but presumably there wasn't originally a glass box on the outside... :-D

There used to be just open loading docks along most of the buildings. They were later sealed off and small windows were placed there instead. I think you could just have replaced the walls with floor to roof glass planes and you would have been good to go.

Oh! And indeed, that would have worked just fine.

Nice idea. Have thought about this for a long time. To create a canal life. Will be an expensive construction to make a pavement that can handle when the river runs high:

The article states that the project is the neighbor of SiO's project. It's still on, they have it on hearing right now.

^ Doesn't make it better. Either tear down the whole area, including Hausmania and make it all "plastic" of leave it as it is, imho.
The mix of old and new didn't work out on Grønland in the 80s and won't here either (by the looks of the render)
