Why are the Pantographs in the middle?

It's not that bad. I rather like it, actually. Even if it does somehow remind me of fifteen-year old appliances.

Clearly, they are trying to work within the bounds of the FRA regulations.

It could be worse. Look at the Zefiro.

Because it's an EMU and they do not need to be on the end cars.

The two raised pantographs so close together and at the same time on the other hand: IRL at any AC voltage that is both not necessary and, this close together, would cause waves in the overhead wire, limiting maximum speed. I'll assume the artist that created this picture doesn't anything about things like that. It even makes you wonder if a similar impression of the ICE3M/407 would have had all its 6 panthographs raised, just because they could.

I really hope when California high speed rail starts getting its rolling stock. It's not the godawful blue with yellow.

No it didn't. The former IC+ carriages had a blue with yellow livery. The rest have a yellow with blue livery, that looks a lot better.

I actually agree with dumbfword here. A lighter colour shade, as long as it's not white or grey, would look a lot better.

I think it's just a concept from these guys...at least, this is all I could dig up. I assume the idea is that Siemens is one of their clients, and this team is thus responsible with marketing materials for their bid...but I thought Siemens actually did that stuff in-house, so it's news for me.

On a side note, I'm all for CA keeping blue and gold since it would preclude them ever going the "stars and stripes" route.

To be fair, it would look awesome if the actual stars and stripes were only on the very front of the cab (along the joint right after the "Amtrak" insignia, with the rest of the train being totally white).

No, I think you may be onto something....I just can't really figure out if Siemens is their client (or if they're trying to get the business from them).

It's a cool find, in any case.
