Spanish with Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles(CAF) or Talgo and South Korea with Hyundai Rotem. All three build high speed trains if the bill passes.

Talgo is bidding on several high speed rail projects around the globe, including Saudi Arabia, Brazil, and Florida.

Not that I expect Talgo to win, since Asians are the strongest competitors.

Its California , that state has gone nuts. Bills like these are part of the reason Cali is in this Current mess. The French , Germans , and Spanish are welcome here in the Northeast. The Germans dominate next to the Asian Firms.

Not exactly. Only send troops to Rusia to pay favors on our Civil War but refused to enter into war with Allies o favour operations against them. If it were for jewish influence, Franco is close a saint for them because his regime saved tens of thousands through delivering spanish passports.

Anyway, I agree. This bill is kind of idiotic.

I think it's just an example of plain stupidity, nothing more.

Not anti-Semitic; but Jewish influence on US politics is no secret, and the bill writer(Jewish himself) did single out Holocaust as the deciding event, while ignoring other atrocities of World War II and afterward.

Holocaust was bad, but not the worst in history.

This thread is on the verge of a treacherous downside that if this becomes the center of the discussion. It is a very sensitive topic.

Not only sensitive, but off-topic!

To me, whoever has the best technology for the best price should win. Although MY opinion obviously does not matter hehe.

Did anybody notice that the holocaust bill came from San Mateo? One of the pennisula cities trying to block the railroad. This is a new low even for NIMBYism. However, I think the state will see through it and make sure it doesnt pass.

Yeah, it seems more like an attempt to kill the project. By passing such bill they would exclude many candidates, and the others nowaday might be used components from the eliminated candidates, pushing them out "de facto".

That would actually make sense, write an anti-HSR bill so that you can call anyone who opposes it a Nazi or anti-semite. Pretty smart, and utterly offensive to actual Holocaust victims.

Looks like this bill's actually gonna be signed into a law.

While aimed at SCNF, Japanese executives are said to be most worried.

Under this bill, bidders from following countries would be put to disadvantage.

Germany
France
Italy
Japan
Spain

Bidders from following countries are unaffected.

Korea
China

So have your pick, KTX2 or CRH380A, assuming CRH380A could actually make it past the US intellectual property rights scrutiny and pass UIC crash worthiness regulation(KTX2 already meets UIC crashworthiness requirement).

I don't understand why California is pushing this bill that's essentially eliminating competition.

Can somebody direct me to a forum to vent my anger on the retarded-ness of this proposed law ? America wants to tell the world to do one thing, then pass its own laws that will have a totally opposite effect! Makes my blood boil !!

It's not about the "Jewish Lobby" or the holocaust, this is about business. HSR contracts are big contracts with a LOT of money at stake, and it's the usual, more than a little hypocritical US protectionism coming in to play. A lot of legislators are dependent on corporate handouts come election time, and will get a nice big fat reward if they manage to win the contract for US contractors.

It's obvious US contractors couldn't win in a fair open bid against European and Asian rail builders who have a better product on offer, so the best way to do it is to sabotage their chances in the name of a moral righteousness.
