Baguio City, Philippines

Baguio City (pop. 300,000)

It is all about Baguio City which is also known as the Summer Capital of the Philippines or the City of Pines. It is hoped that through this thread you will learn something about our beautiful city and the people who call Baguio home.

Wow..its really sprawly. I was hoping for more greenary....sad that it became sprawly. I wish they stuck to the original masterplanning by Burham (am i right?). But anyways, its a great city in the mountains. I love the last few pics. green green green

I think it should stay a green garden city but develop by having modern facilities in the city.A tram perhaps?

but when i was lookin' it up in the dictionary i was really surprisd because they'd write it with a dotted "shi"
also you know how they write "dolphin" as "sea pig" but using the same character for "pig" i wonder why "river pig" is read as "puffer fish"even though they live in the sea.....

there's a lot of greenery in parks, grottos, etc. but when you reach the build-up areas, it becomes really built-up...

When I went here as a small child my cousins told me the Igorots were cannibals. I was terrified of them the whole time we were there.

Baguio City is overpopulated. It needs redevelopment.

Haha! The Igorots were never cannibals. They were headhunters however but that was long ago.

What's so pretty with Baguio? It pales in comparison to exotic La Paz. Baguio today is like Manila's chaotic Quiapo placed on top of a mountain. Over-populated. Daily traffic jams. Lots of dirty/ rusty-looking buildings. Irritating site of tin-roofed houses covering the entirety of a couple of mountains. There's only one thing I like about Baguio -- the year-round cool weather.
