no, i won't agree that my alma mater be called ateneo de cebu (even if i graduated from ateneo de manila) but i will agree if they maintain the name sacred heart school alongside ateneo de cebu.

I expect the old campus in gen.maxilom to be used for tertiary level education.

I agree with you bai.
Sacred Heart School was a combined boys and girls at Gen. Maxilom way back then, that as you enter the school ground, its driveway was not even cemented when I was kinder 1 & my brother was grade 2.
Ateneo de Cebu should be referred to as a College or a University level.

Maybe they'll do like what Ateneo de Iloilo did:
"Ateneo de Iloilo - Santa Maria Catholic School" which still carries the old name...I dunno the exact situation for Cebu's.

A Sillimanian is one of the topnotchers in this year's CPA board exam

Am sure Silliman, being the one and only Center of Excellence in Accountancy in the whole PHilippines, is one of the top schools this year, but I have no data...

Congratulations to the passers! Thanks for the info Ritch, just a friendly reminder though and with all due respect to kindly refrain from posting rankings between schools or its students and let us just focus solely on a particular school to prevent conflicts on this thread. Thanks and best regards .

Silliman University by the way is the 3rd best performing school for the 26-50 examinees with 69.23% while the national passing rate is only 33.65%. Though a bit dismal since it usually rates from 80% upwards but still a very commendable performance. Congrats to all the new CPAs.

I wish CPU can buy this land located at the back of University Church. Currently there is only a small pathway leading to the back entrance of the university if you take Dungon Road (Benigno Aquino Ave.), Its a nice location
for a new facade and maybe multi level car parking. It will help decongest the Lopez Jaena Road Main Entrance.

wow..galing!!

But mind you SU is not COE, yet it has been granted a Center of Development status by CHED, the only accountancy program in the Philippines to be given such distinction..

Please confirm this though. I think ranked tenth is UPV-Iloilo. I sort of know the person who got the 10th spot (congratulations) and he's from Igbaras I think.

Nice one!

It seems schools don't want to be left behind in terms of expansions and renovations.

Good news for Filipinos and particularly the Visayans...

Happy 104th Founding Anniversary
ST. PAUL UNIVERSITY OF DUMAGUETE

Founded: October 29, 1904

image hosted on flickr

"Oldest St. Paul School of the Country"

History

The Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres (SPC) Congregation was founded in 1696 by Fr. Louis Chauvet, the parish priest of Levesville-La Chenard which is a small village southeast of Chartres, France.

Father Chauvet’s vision of charity was shared by his first followers and entrusted their training to Marie Anne de Tilly, a lady of nobility and an active member of the parish who left a life of comfort “to serve God and neighbor”.

The difficult circumstances of the French Revolution, occasioned the spread of the Congregation to other places. Their primary activity was to educate young girls, to visit and care for the poor and the sick.

On October 29. 1904, seven Sisters of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres established its first foundation in the Philippines in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental. Since then, it has spread to different parts of the country with more than 70 institutions including hospitals, sanitarium, and home-for-the-aged under its helm making it the largest religious educational institution in the country.

St. Paul is really very nice for me. I think it has one of the most beautiful landscape a school could ever have. St. Paul really shows how intricate they are in their works. I can see that this kind of environment can really aid a student in learning more. Go St. Paul!

Only the students from Assumption College in Makati (the college of PGMA) stayed at St Paul's during the Unigames.
