There is a plan to do a small airport only for General Aviation with 1350 metres runway on Białystok-Krywlany (now it's flying club airport). It should be ready in 2017 year. Cost it's about 5 million €.

It's been a busy last two weeks for Polish airports. Some major highlights:

Warsaw (WAW)

Revamped Warsaw Airport terminal back in action

The enlarged and modernised Terminal A at Warsaw Chopin Airport has reopened for passengers.

Terminal A now comprises seven storeys, with 1,300 rooms, and 48 check-in desks are available.

“All these changes increase passengers' comfort as well as the airport capacity, which over the next 15 years could reach the level of more than 20 million people a year,” director of the Airport Michał Kaczmarzyk told TVN.
“Thanks to this our airport has a chance to become the most important and largest in Central Europe,” he added.
“We have such ambitions.”

Besides a number of shops, restaurants and cafes, the revamped terminal boasts a viewing terrace from which arriving and departing planes can be watched.

The extension and renovation of the terminal cost PLN 400 million.

Air Baltic to fly from Radom airport

Latvian budget carrier Air Baltic is to start flying from the central Polish city of Radom to Riga from September, the airport has announced.

“We are going to start flights from 1 September with a frequency of three flights weekly, and from mid-October [that will grow to] four flights a week,” said Tomasz Siwak, CEO of Radom Airport.

“Passengers will be able to make use of Riga’s network, some 94 destinations,” he added.

The flights are initially scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with an extra day being added from October. Meanwhile, Radom Airport is in talks with other carriers about opening up routes from the airport.

Radom Airport, which used to be a military facility, opened in May 2014. It is yet to host regular scheduled services.

Meanwhile, Air Baltic carried almost 3 million passengers in 2013, according to the airline, and offers passengers over 50 connections from its hub in Riga. The airline also has a number of codeshare agreements with larger airlines in Europe.

Katowice airport opens new runway

The first plane took off from Katowice Airport’s new 3,200-metre runway on Thursday morning.

The new runway – 400 metres longer than the previous strip – is set to aid the airport’s development, and is capable of handling larger aircraft.
“This is one of the longest runways in Poland,” Artur Tomasik, President of the Upper Silesian Aviation Group (GTL), said.

The concrete runway is currently 3,200-metres long and can be extended by a further 400 metres if the need arises.

“I hope that in the future we will be able to fly to destinations far afield, to North America, and even to Latin America,” Tomasik said.

The new runway is equipped with light and radio navigation aids, which are to be added to a further investment to allow planes to land in low visibility conditions.

The airport’s runway is currently equipped with ILS category I technology, although from 2016 it is to be upgraded to ILS category II, which will allow planes to land in visibility not more than 550 metres.
The cost of the investment amounted to PLN 157 million, and was in part funded by the EU.

airBaltic was suppose to launch 3 weekly Riga-Radom (RDO) from 1 September and Czech Airlines 3 weekly PRG-RDO from 18 September...starting up commercial services at RDO again.
Did it all happen as planned, because only having 212 passengers for the whole of September makes one wonder how good these routes are doing?

Yes, it all happened. RDO-RIX and RIX-RDO is about 1-3 passanger/s on one flight, RDO - PRG and PRG-RDO is a little bit 'better' about 5-10 passangers on one flight. Czech Airlines cancelled flights from Radom from November '15 to April '16. Probably both airlines (BT and CSA) will withdraw from Radom due to low flights occupancy.
