The U.S. has the infastructure, diversity, safety, and central location to host this event all the time. It probally makes money here that it wouldn't make in others.

Doesn't quite have the same sting to it, does it?

An incredibly short sighted comment. There's plenty of money to be made in Miami off hosting international friendlies and FIU is losing out due to the surface. They're only getting the gold cup games because CONCACAF can dictate where they play. All other friendlies countries choose to go to Lockhart and Dolphins Stadium. The Orange Bowl hosted a ton of games before it was torn down and FIU has the chance to fill the the void and get the money for themselves. They're located right in the centre of millions of various latin/caribbean diaspora.

No offense, but Miami is just hosting group matches, so I don't know why you seem so excited, and has been a fixture in hosting the GC, unless your just excited for FIU hosting it? Miami is already a respected soccer town, despite it not having any major proffesional soccer team. And, the thread title makes it seem like it's hosting the final.

In fact, of all the cities that should look at this list and be excited, its Kansas City(1st time), Charlotte(1st time), Detroit(1st time), Tampa(1st time), Dallas(hosting again after so many years),DC(2nd time), Chicago(2nd time),and Houston(4th consecutive time, but hosting semifinals, and once again in the spotlight of being a soccer town after hosting MLS All star game).

Nobody else wants it. Seriously, that's why. Mexico lost money hosting it.

The Gold Cup isn't exactly glamorous.

Canada could host it, so could Costa Rica I guess. But do they want to? The answer is probably no.

I don't like the draw for Mexico though, Costa Rica and El Salvador. :\

Also you can tell they're trying their best to keep the US and Mexico separate.

A1 and A2 are both on the top side of the bracket, C1 and C2 are both on the bottom side of the bracket.
