It would be funny to see the Americans finishing third in their group.

hopefully it'll light a fire under Bradley and this team so they'll finally play to potential. If not, Bradley has got to go.

Only one Cuban defector this tournament. However, in past years it was probably easier for some of their players to convince themselves they could make a living playing soccer. This team? Not so much

Mexico and the US should join the Coppa America instead.

Mexico has been a regular in the Copa America since 1993.

Mexico will actually be playing in it 5 days after the Gold Cup final.

New stipulations require Mexico to field it's 2012 Olympic team with 5 over-age players instead of the A squad which sucks.

They would have to leave CONCACAF to do that, so that will never be happening. Besides, the crowds for this tournament, ever since becoming a summer instead of winter affair, have been great. CONCACAF have done a great job of building this tournament into a cash cow.

Speaking of attendance, both quarterfinal doubleheaders were sold out (78k and 47k). Semi's in Houston sold out as well (72K). Safe to say the Rose Bowl will fill 90,000 if Mexico gets through.

The tournament should run the same time as the Euros. It's silly that's it's every 3 years.

It would be pretty sad if they happened at the same time as the Euro matches are all broadcast live on ESPN and ESPN 2. All the Gold Cup matches aren't.

Let's keep within reach of reality here. CONCACAF will never move to a four-year schedule like the Euros unless they merge their tournament with Copa America. Why? Because of money. CONCACAF is way too heavily dependent on the Gold Cup for revenues, and the only way they could justify moving away from a 2-year calendar to a Euro-calendar is if they joined forces with the South American powers for a Pan-American tournament.

Same reason they'll never merge with CONMEBOL.

I have to give Mexico credit, they have been playing some inspiring soccer. Considering the current form, in Pasadena (if US make it that far), I don't think we (Americans) are going to win.

A full merge with CONMEBOL will never happen, but a combined continental championship is certainly plausible.

Since the US is hosting it every other year, they should roatet it so that the southeast has it one year, the southwest another, the northwest another and the northwest another.

Having it spread out across the country with so few games is pretty silly.

In the world cup some stadias has both group games and play-offs.
Like Pasadena only hosting the final is just stupid.

Have fans stay at different cities and have their countries play within a certain area.
