I don't like the idea of a 100% city owned tenement but I 'm in favor if it will be semi private, manage and operated by the private developer in maintaining the buildings as if its a condo but affordable to the lower class, kabalo naman ta kung city owned pabayan lang asta ma dilapidate.

and one other thing, I'm against in giving out pabahay to illegal settlers by both provincial and city, It is not a solution to the problem, it will just encourage more people the squat, instead offer skilled trainings and create jobs so that they could earn enough to pay for budget housing that are semi private.

This was already done in the land not so far away... basi masal-an ta na karun sunod-sunoran. Well, if that completely eradicates the squatters problem to 0%, so should it be done. Okay lang kung second lang kita on that concept and idea.

True! That corner lot you mean is really a prime space! A glassy midrise or a stand alone fastfood will compliment that area or better yet it can be a perfect space for business inn to expland their hotel!

Daw ka eyesore guid na da nga area with all the eateries present beside Lacson St.!

Will it possible for any building built on that space to be connected physically to Business Inn mismo? Kung sa bagay, the ballroom annex gani of Business Inn at Galo St. is not even physically connected to it. Tani pati ang Alhambra i-resurrect man.

It was a Taiwanese investor I think who was eyeing it for redevelopment. That hotel just needs to repaint and refurbish everything and is done, maybe throw in good marketing with perks especially sa Masskara. If not hotel, pwede man serviced residences.

Actually, ang scheme nga ina is being done is Malaysia already, specifically KL. The government offers the informal settlers in KL a space in a government-run housing building (with really really low fees) then employs them in the public sector. In turn, the land that the informal settlers vacated are being used for development. Win-win ang situation because the eyesores are gone, the government gets to use the land without using eminent domain power, the land can be sold for development by private firms, the informal settlers can get a job and good housing.

Budget lang ni kag political will ang kulang kun sa aton ni i-apply.

yeah! I think the reason that it didn't click though lasted for years until it halted its operations was the poor marketing. wala labot na tago sya kag wala sa main thouroughfare there is nothing more than you can do in that hotel.. the resto was so so, wala enough parking area, plus ang surrounding area was a bit of an eyesore. Example ta lang bala ang ang royal am rei.. tago man sya sa 13th st pero going strong because of the good service and the very affordable room rates. wala na da sila gakaubusan guest ya! I always recommend it to my manila friends on budget travel na dira ma stay.. php850 for a standard room for 2 with free breakfast is really a good deal for a hotel!

I like the idea na patindugan sila tenement, at least ila na, I hope the tenement set up would have a police station and fire station nearby. this would make them safe and sound.

Since School is to going to be set up in reclamation, this will encourage them to start from there. Safe for their children and their well being.

ah ok thought it was city owned, in anyway good, mayo man gani una sila so we can learn and improve the mistakes and when the time comes that Bacolod will put up its own low rise tenement it will be better... I was thinking for a sec your referring to the tenement with 21 storeys.

We can draw a lot of lessons from tenements in Manila, especially those in Taguig. Kung government owned tenements, medyo napabay-an guid until medyo structurally unsound na unless the homeowners form associations for building maintenances.
