NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. cautioned the Negrenses who will watch tomorrow's game of the Team Azkals against Mongolia at the Panaad Park and Stadium to avoid bringing children as 20,000 spectators are expected to troop to the 15,000-capacity venue.

The Philippines will battle Mongolia for the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup qualifying tournament. Game One will be played tomorrow while Game Two will be played on March 15 at Ulan Bator, Mongolia.

"Because of the large number of people expected to watch the match, it is better to avoid bringing children because they might get hurt in the rush of the crowd," the governor said. "Moreover, they cannot yet appreciate and enjoy the game."

Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office Director Allan Guisihan, who is in-charge of the overall security at the stadium during the game, also echoed the governor's call.

Due to the expected huge turnout, Marañon disclosed that Panaad Stadium in-charge Ian De Ramos is planning to extend an additional 10 layer seats for the bleachers for the convenience of the spectators.

On the other hand, the governor reiterated that the provincial government only provides the venue for the game. The Capitol has no control over the distribution of tickets for the match, citing that the provincial government was only provided with a certain number of tickets by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF).

However, Marañon said, the promised tickets of PFF have not yet been given to the Capitol as of yesterday, adding that the organizers promised to deliver them today.

Many interested spectators have been making inquiries about the tickets, especially those that will be given free to the public.

Meanwhile, Marañon said President Benigno Aquino III is probably not coming to witness the game.

Usually the advance party and the members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) comes three days before the President's arrival but as of yesterday, there was no official notice sent to the Capitol from Malacañang.

Senators Ramon Revilla, Loren Legarda, Juan Miguel Zubiri and Teofisto Guingona III are expected to be present for the game. (Teresa Ellera-Dulla)

Wow!!! I hope this would give Philippine Football a big kick ang make it as the next thing to basketball and boxing in the country.

AZKALS - derived from the name ASKAL, a Filipino slang term for "asong kalye" - a domesticated dog breed that is a result of multiple nter-mixed dog breeds.

this is true with our Philippine Team...its truly mixed...super breeds!!!!

Amu gani hambal ko migs. Don't destroy Paglaum Stadium because this will complement Panaad as to seating capacity and hosting of simultaneous events. Kulang sa Paglaum are additional seats and a multi-level parking space. Panaad could also have additional bleachers at the western half of the stadium to increase seating capacity but never enclose the stadium with bleachers because it would be hot and humid.

This is a good move for the Philippine Team to pay courtesy to the host city. Kun si Bing pa maghambal

" its not about politics here. we would just like to play our role in the smooth hosting of this international event."

this is in line with POC's continued snub to the Bacolod City govt by not sending them official invitation to the football match

I-model nila ang stadia from other countries. For the glory of Philippine football, indi lang please pag-i-corrupt sang mga officials ang kwarta. There's already a pledge from FIFA for financial support. Kasubo nga ma-realize ta nga wala gid sang "real" stadium ang Pilipinas.

Medyo controversial pa to ang deal with the PFF and a religious congregation, not to mention daw wala na masyado duta kung diin i-locate ang proposed stadium.

Bus drivers’ training
in WV soon: TESDA

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority will soon start training bus drivers here in Western Visayas, a government press release said.

TESDA Iloilo provincial director Lorena Yunque said they have tentatively scheduled the training of 1,732 bus drivers affiliated with the 866 authorized units of buses plying the highways of Western Visayas this month or early March.

She said these bus drivers will be trained after the trainers finish their ongoing training for the National Certification Level 3 in Manila and are already ready for the regional run.

TESDA is tying up with the Ceres Bus Liner Company for its units to be used in the actual training.

The NC Level 3 training for bus drivers will run for 18 days with the topics including minor maintenance of vehicles, observation of traffic rules and regulations, safety measures and courtesy.

The training is also in preparation for the 2012 requirement of bus companies where drivers have to undergo NC Level 3 training before they can be employed, the press release said.*

AFAIK ha, the Blue, Red, and Yellow section tickets were already sold out online. The only way to buy them was through sending an email to the PFF, depositing the money in the bank account, and claiming the tickets either in Manila or here in Bacolod. As for the Green, Purple, and Orange section tickets, amo ni siya ang general admission which was supposed to be given for free. Lain lang kay may nagwa nga press release nga 9am kuno ipanghatag but then it was delayed to 1pm kuno?

Naluoy lang ko sa mga football fans nga nag-camp pa halin kagab-i sa Panaad Park just to have the tickets. I dunno kung diin nagkadto ang 10,000 free tickets.
