I find it rashist that other people's calendars are not followed more clearly, especially in the workplace. Government organisations should set an example by allowing dates of other calendars to be used in the workplace by those who follow those calendars. This would be similar to how anti-smoking and anti-rashial laws became fact.
Virtually noone in Australia uses another calendar to live their life by. Some religions have their own calendars which they use alongside the Gregorian calendar to determine dates of religious events etc.

By the way our modern calendar goes back to Roman times and then is an adjustment of the Julian calendar.

Workplaces do accomodate cultural events in Australia and if people need to participate in them they can be provided e.g Islamic workers provided with time off to celebrate the Eid. Were very lucky to have that privilege.

New Years Eve like Christmas is a huge community event. There is no religion involved either.

The Melbourne fireworks were pretty good, the view from the shrine of rememberance was great. I won't be content without seeing Sydney though...

I was at a friends place in Winston Hills and we walked to a street in the suburb with views of the city and the top of the harbour bridge. Not the best view in the world, but you get a good idea of the sheer size and magnitude of it. Looked awesome.

Yeah, I think Australia should stick with the current calendar system. The Lunar Calendar that the Chinese use is generally only applicable in the northern hemisphere anyway, Chinese New Year represents the first day of spring, in Aus, we will be experiencing the hot summer sun hahahahaha. Christmas is another example as well, its supposed to be snowy and home bound, in Aus, we are all at the beach!!!!

Therefore I think New Years is probably the only time the whole world can celebrate equally and in a unified manner.

Blame Katy Perry. So much for Youtube just muting the video when it detects infringing audio content.
