Salt Lake is rocking in . . . . . . what? Itself? They finally have 3 or 4 buildings approaching the vaunted 400' threshold? The mountains look great though

Tough call between Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, but went with Seattle.

If only mountains weren't part of people's equations, skylines should be about buildings not mountains. San Francisco and dare I say it Los Angeles have the best man made skylines by far. If someone wants to throw in Seattle or Denver or Calgary because of a Norman Foster building so be it, but San Fran and LA definitely have the best skyline based on classical looks and San Fran based on people living with their skyline. I know Vancouver has like a gazillion people living in downtown, but their skyline looks like shite, seriously, " were the most densest city in North America" yet our skyline, save the mountains in the background, looks like crap. One 600' ish hotel doesn't a skyline make.

i feel like San Fransisco is almost the same situation as Vancouver honestly. both are for the most part short cities that are very dense.

also i dont see why we cant add nature surrounding the city. they're both in the view of most photos and always make it look better. which is one reason why i chose seattle.

Oh come on now. You live in San Francisco. You have no reason to be insecure and picking on little ole Salt Lake City.

Like San Fransisco and Seattle, Salt Lake City has done a good job of cleaning up its grime, helping the homeless numbers drop and making the city more walkable and vibrant. We are taking care of the city core that was given to us from the Pre World War II era and expanding it. I make no pretense of Salt Lake City having a formidable skyline, I am just showing what the city is doing with what it has and trying to help put its best foot forward on this thread. I'm very proud of what Salt Lake City has done and what it is doing to improve.

Smile

Not really picking on Salt Lake City, I'm from a town near Orlando that has more horses than people (or near enough) and I think Orlando has a decent skyline, but I would never think that it was one of the best in the south, not that your city doesn't have some cool buildings and great pieces of architecture. As far as nature being part of a skyline though, last time I checked skyscrapers were built by us and not by nature. If nature is to be a defining charateristic than Vancouver with no buildings, or Capetown, or Rio de Janeiro, again with no buildings, would be the greatest skylines. And as far as being short I think SF has more buildings over 600' than Seattle? Maybe, I might be wrong.

Only 3 West Coast cities (LA, San Francisco, and Seattle) have truly impressive skylines. Los Angeles's skyline is iconic yes but more importantly than that, befitting it's name, at certain points during the day, LA turns almost heavenly. Sure it's dirty and smelly but there is so many beautiful things about this city and it's skyline. I know people are ignorant and say things like 'LA is a fake city' or some other bullshit but LA is truly an amazing place with a truly amazing skyline. Plus we have a supertall in the works.

Yep, and so should Reno.

Truth is that setting up a poll on VBulletin with more than 10 or 15 options can be a real pain given the rude 5 min. allowance before it posts. Several other cities would be fun to discuss ( including Albuquerque and Tuscon ) but just have relatively weak skylines.
