Who says L.A. doesn't have an active downtown?

Lets start off in the Garment District.

Lots of new apartments and condos sprouting up all over dt. Also many old buildings are being converting into lofts, apts. and condos.

Some great photos, especially of the old theatres and music halls!
What is sidewalk traffic like in the evenings?

I was always wondering, how is it that LA is so green when it doesnt rain there too often?

Evening foot traffic has definately improved at night in pockets of dt. I went to the 2nd Thursday Art Walk and it was jammed.

Thanks for the comments. Here's a few more pics.

Beautiful pictures! Downtown LA is better appreciated in these pictures than by going there.
Because few people live downtown still, the streets are nearly deserted at night. No street life once the sun sets. I don't live that far from it, but I have not visited that area in a long time, so I hope things are changing now. I now see more apt. buildings and even a Ralph's supermarket there. I wish downtown were more livable.

I have to disagree. Its not midtown Manhattan but honestly since I last visited dt L.A. a few years ago it has improved at least 200 percent. I was there earlier today and I counted 9 new restaurants opening soon. I'll be down there again for Art Walk next Thursday night.
