In the arena's interior, it looks like they haven't demolished anything. However, they still need to install the seating. And does that appear to be a luxury box on one of the stadium's sides?

According to an article from yesterday, the temporary structure will be huge.
As far as i understand it will also have suites (the temporary structure).
So it will be a Arena (15,000) inside the Arena (22,500).
But they will destroy the temporary structure after 2010, because the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships will be held here.

There will be temporary stands inside this arena? They're gonna have to construct these fast because there is only one year before the tournament. Having to build temporary stands inside an indoor arena (especially if it's an arena that looks like it could host an indoor track and field event) is very complicated and probably not a good idea. Also, will they ever install proper seating in the permanent bowl after the 2010 FIBA World Championship? It can't be left with boring concrete stands forever.

As far as i know they already started to built the 3 temporary stands.
IMO they won't use good seats, because it won't be the main arena in Istanbul.
2012 FINA World Swimming Championships will be here. I hope that it will stay as indoor pool / aquatic centre.
Istanbul does not need a new "arena" / sports hall.
But it needs a bigger indoor swimming hall

yes, it is like a football stadium....



@sercan, there won't be 3 temporary stands, there will be 2 temporary stands and corner stands. the pitch will lay on the just opposite direction of current horizontal field.

The arena cannot remain as an aquatics centre after the 2012 FINA World Championships because the pool is to be temporary. But it does look like it is long enough to get a 50m pool. It was originally designed as a multipurpose arena.

Yes. It will be 25m for 2012, but maybe they will turn it into a permanant aquatic centre with a 50m pool and a diving pool.
Just next to the dome you can find the open aquatic centre

actually the infield of the dome is very big
so they are building temporary stands
