I have no idea about the Mumias road, but the Muhoroni-Chemelil-Kisumu road is not under any construction at the moment and I doubt that it will be any time soon given the other projects underway in Nyanza currently: Kericho-Kisumu and Londiani-Muhoroni.
I have no idea which roads have been given any attention in Western province, but it seems like they are one of the last areas to be considered for improvement.

As you may well know, private capital goes where the opportunities are. You will not see any development of note in North Eastern or Northern provinces because opportunities are non existent. Opportunities are created with the right infrastructure and only the government has the wherewithall to develop the necessary infrastructure. Eight years after Kibaki came to power (and three after the coalition government) Kisumu is finally getting a decent road (will not be complete for many more months) connecting it to the rest of the nation - particularly to Nairobi. The railroad that the government outsourced to some untested company (Rift Valley Railways) has done little to connect Kisumu to Nairobi and Mombasa. How is Nyanza expected to grow when succesive governments have worked overtime to supress it? Look at the neglect the sea port in Kisumu has experienced. Whose obligation is it to improve this government enterprise?

Mombasa's position is unique as the leading tourism center in subsaharan Africa after the SA cities so it attracts investment by default. Other Kenyan cities have to find a niche.
Eldoret was doing wonders but now they have gone backwards because people are afraid to invest, the price Eldoret will pay for this is that the city will not grow as fast as it was before and people will try to find other areas to put their money.

Let's not forget why people went on a rampage. They did so to improve their lives when they saw their destiny being hijacked by the power hungry Kibaki cartel. Hopefully their destiny is brighter with a new constitution that may not have seen the day of light had they let the Kibaki cartel prevail.

The rift valley and the western provinces really has to work hard now to regain the trust of people.

There is no justification for the killing they did WHATSOEVER! Human lives were lost, that is all that matters. Yes, in the end we all got a new constitution, which is great, but it still wasn't worth the lives of so many people, the negative media, and the thousands of IDP.

If I were to ask you whether the Mau Mau uprising (with all the killings that went along) was justified you would most likely answer in the affirmative. Peaceful attempts at change is always desirable, but when that (elections) fails, what options do you have? Continue to be subjugated or rise up with all the means at your disposal?

I personally believe anybody who took law in their hands irrespective of the situation was doing the country more harm than good. On P.E.V well lets discuss it not coz we may fill this blog without ever agreeing. That said, any renders on the recent development on these roads?

Even though I am not the prefect here, I think it is incorrect to argue these issues in this forum and it is pointless.
